In the heart of Bruneck, the main town of the Puster Valley in the Province of Bolzano, the Piazza Municipio (Rathausplatz) transforms into a lively open-air market every Wednesday morning. It is the most important weekly market in the area, a tradition that has punctuated the daily life of this South Tyrolean town for decades, attracting both locals from neighboring villages and the many tourists vacationing at the foot of Plan de Corones.

A tradition since 1977

The Wednesday market has been held regularly since 1977. Originally located elsewhere in the city, it found its ideal home in the Piazza Municipio, within the pedestrianized historic center just a stone's throw from the arcaded main street. Since then, the square has hosted the stalls every week, becoming a small collective ritual cherished by residents and visitors alike.

What you will find at the stalls

The market features approximately 51 stalls, divided into different product categories:

• Puster Valley farmers with seasonal products: homemade jams and preserves, fruit syrups, honey, cheeses, and alpine butter;
• Various food items, seasonal fruits and vegetables, and local gastronomic specialties;
• Clothing and textiles, with stalls selling garments and linens;
• Footwear and leather goods, shoes and leather accessories;
• A permanent kiosk where you can stop for a hot snack while shopping.
