A walk through the vineyards of Caldaro

The Kalterer Weinwandertag is the food and wine event that kicks off the wine season every spring in Caldaro sulla Strada del Vino/Kaltern an der Weinstraße, one of the most renowned wine-growing municipalities in South Tyrol, in the province of Bolzano. When the apple trees are in bloom and the vines show their first buds, the town invites residents and visitors to discover its wine landscape by walking from one winery to another, at the slow and convivial pace of a festive day outdoors.

The wein.weg trail

The common thread of the event is the wein.weg, the wine trail that winds through the vineyards, descending from the town center to Lake Caldaro and the Cantina di Caldaro. Along the path, individual vineyard plots are marked by white limestone thresholds with names in metal letters, a detail that helps visitors read and understand the local viticultural landscape. On the day of the event, the route is specially marked so that you can move freely from one stop to the next.

Wineries, tastings, and cuisine

The partner wineries of the wein.kaltern initiative open their doors along the way: from one producer to another, you will find wine tastings, small exhibitions, insights into architecture and winery operations, and local gastronomic offerings. Participating establishments, recognizable by dedicated signage, offer the chance to stop for a glass of wine or a snack. Admission is free and no registration is required, making the event suitable for families, groups of friends, and wine enthusiasts.
