Five nights of world-class jazz set within the historic wineries of Marsala, in the Province of Trapani.
Jazz in Cantina – Marsala Jazz Festival is an event that transforms the historic wineries of Marsala, in the heart of the Province of Trapani, into open-air stages for world-class jazz. Created to celebrate and renew the city's rich jazz heritage, the festival is organized by the associations Catania Jazz—which has been bringing the biggest names in global jazz to Sicily since 1983—and Marsala Jazz Festival, under the artistic direction of Pompeo Benincasa and with the patronage of the Municipality of Marsala.
The festival follows a unique "widespread" format: each evening takes place in a different historic winery, offering a journey that blends music with the local wine culture. Cantine Pellegrino, Cantine Storiche Donnafugata, and Cantine Fina open their doors to the public, providing a stunning backdrop of centuries-old barrels, courtyards, and gardens for concerts under the Sicilian summer sky.
The program explores diverse musical languages and repertoires: from singer-songwriter styles infused with jazz, blues, and soul, to Afro-Cuban dialogues between piano and cello; from reinterpretations of John Coltrane's A Love Supreme to vocal improvisation; and from the fusion of jazz and flamenco to Cuban orchestral sounds and new intersections of jazz, hip-hop, electronics, and spoken word. The lineup brings together major Italian talents and international artists from across the globe.
As a symbol of Sicilian winemaking, Marsala is the perfect setting for a festival that celebrates the harmony between sound and territory. The wineries hosting the concerts tell centuries of local winemaking history, while the live music adds a new chapter to the cultural identity of Western Sicily. Jazz in Cantina is a unique opportunity to discover Marsala in a new light, featuring tastings, magical night-time atmospheres, and high-caliber concerts—all at the end of July, the perfect time to enjoy the city and its surroundings away from the crowds.
From July 22nd to 26th, 2026, Marsala hosts five nights of world-class jazz within its historic wineries, under the artistic direction of Pompeo Benincasa and organized by Catania Jazz and Marsala Jazz Festival. Each day is dedicated to a different expression of contemporary jazz, in a setting that blends music and wine culture.
The festival opens on July 22nd at Cantine Pellegrino with Raphael Gualazzi, blending jazz, blues, and soul. On July 23rd, at Cantine Storiche Donnafugata, the stage features the Cuban Piano-Cello Project by Yaniel Matos and Victor Zamora, followed by the Ricardo Toscano Quartet with their tribute to John Coltrane's A Love Supreme. On July 24th, also at Donnafugata, the Yumi Ito Quartet and the Daniel García Trio take the stage, exploring jazz, art-pop, and flamenco. The evenings of July 25th and 26th move to Cantine Fina with Alain Pérez y La Orquesta ("La Fiesta Tour 2026") and Cédric Hanriot & Time Is Colour – Vol. 3.
From July 22nd to 26th, with concerts scheduled in the evening (from 9:00 PM to 10:30 PM, depending on the night).
