The cultural integration festival of San Vito Lo Capo
Every year, at the end of September, San Vito Lo Capo becomes the gastronomic heart of the Mediterranean. The Cous Cous Fest is much more than a food festival: it is a celebration of cultural integration that, for nearly three decades, has brought chefs, musicians, and visitors from all over the world to this town in the province of Trapani. The star of the show is couscous, a food that bridges the two shores of the Mediterranean and serves as a metaphor for dialogue, hospitality, and peace, in line with the event's historic slogan: "Make Cous Cous Not War".
The core of the event is the great culinary challenge. The Campionato Italiano Conad selects the representative who will defend Italy's colors, while the Bia Cous Cous World Championship pits chefs from numerous Euro-Mediterranean countries and beyond against each other, judged by an international jury and public vote. Alongside the professional competitions, the Next Generation Student Contest provides a stage for young students from culinary schools.
Throughout the festival, the town comes alive with scents and flavors:
The evenings at Cous Cous Fest are headlined by free concerts on the beach stage, with the sea just a few steps away and sand beneath your feet. Over the years, major names in Italian music have performed, making the festival one of the most anticipated events of the Sicilian summer and a unique opportunity to experience San Vito Lo Capo, home to some of Sicily's most beautiful beaches.
Blending gastronomy, music, and culture, the Cous Cous Fest has become a classic of the Sicilian autumn and one of Italy's most important food and wine events. It is an occasion that showcases the welcoming identity of Sicily and the vocation of San Vito Lo Capo as a crossroads for the peoples of the Mediterranean.
From September 18th to 27th, 2026, San Vito Lo Capo hosts the twenty-ninth edition of the Cous Cous Fest, the cultural integration festival that celebrates couscous as the iconic dish of dialogue between Mediterranean peoples. The event's major highlights return: the Bia Cous Cous World Championship with chefs competing for the world title, the Campionato Italiano Conad, cooking shows at the Bia Theatre, tastings at the 'Case del Cous Cous', and the Expo Village along the seafront.
The free beach concerts are also confirmed, always one of the most beloved moments of the festival. The complete artist line-up and the detailed daily program will be communicated by the organization (Feedback srl) on the official website couscousfest.it in the weeks preceding the event.
San Vito Lo Capo is located in the province of Trapani, at the northwestern tip of Sicily. By car, it can be reached via the A29 motorway (Castellammare del Golfo exit), continuing along the SP16. The nearest airports are Trapani-Birgi (approx. 40 km) and Palermo-Punta Raisi (approx. 100 km).
Admission to the festival, the Expo Village, and the beach concerts is free. Tastings at the 'Case del Cous Cous' start from approximately 12 euros, cooking shows from about 10 euros, while championship finals require a paid ticket (available on vivaticket.com).
The town gets very crowded during the festival: we recommend booking your accommodation well in advance and arriving on foot or using the shuttle buses to reach the center.
