Intra Fest: Youthful energy in San Cataldo

Intra Fest (also written as INTRAfest) is the festival that reignites the historic center of San Cataldo, a town in the province of Caltanissetta, in the heart of Sicily, every summer. Promoted by the Municipality of San Cataldo and dedicated to the new generation, it is one of the flagship projects of the Estate Sancataldese: a calendar of cultural, musical, and entertainment events designed for all ages, but built upon the ideas and energy of local youth.

A city turned into an open-air stage

What sets Intra Fest apart from a typical summer festival is its participatory nature. During the event, the historic center transforms into a large, open-air laboratory, with activities scattered across some of the city's most evocative spots:

• Piazza Calvario, which becomes an open-air cinema under the stars
• La Pescheria and the Torre Civica, symbols of the historic center
• the Municipal Library and the Municipal Villa
• the Ponti di Legno and Piazzetta Falcone Borsellino

To allow the events to take place, the Municipality implements specific traffic regulations in the affected streets each year, a testament to the importance the event has gained in city life.

Cinema, music, and social life

The Intra Fest program alternates between open-air cinema screenings, silent parties, musical evenings featuring local DJs and musicians, performances, and activities dedicated to young people. The 2026 edition, the fourth, marks a shift toward a model increasingly based on co-creation, with the active collaboration of local artists, musicians, and professionals.

A staple of the Estate Sancataldese

Part of the broader 'Estate Sancataldese' project, Intra Fest has become a highly anticipated event for the youth of San Cataldo and neighboring towns in the Nisseno area. It is an opportunity to experience the historic center in a new way, amidst culture, music, and free entertainment, in a festive atmosphere that lasts for much of the summer.
