Butera a Tavola is the premier food and wine festival in the municipality of Butera, a hilltop village in the province of Caltanissetta, in the heart of Sicily. Every autumn, the event draws thousands of visitors to the historic center, where the town's squares and alleys come alive with food stalls, tastings, and entertainment. The event is organized by Pro Loco Butera with the patronage of the municipal administration and has established itself over the years as one of the most anticipated dates on the festival calendar in south-central Sicily.

Long live the pasta with honey

The festival's signature dish is pasta with honey (known in the local dialect as "pasta câ meli"), a specialty with presumed Arab origins tied to the Butera tradition. It consists of spaghetti tossed with honey, toasted almonds, breadcrumbs, orange peel, and a pinch of cinnamon: a sweet and sour dish once prepared for special occasions like the Feast of Saint Joseph and Good Friday. Alongside it, the stalls offer the best of the region: local cheeses, wine, olive oil, almonds, and cured meats, offering a true journey through the flavors of the Sicilian peasant tradition.

Music, shows, and art

Beyond the culinary delights, Butera a Tavola offers a rich entertainment program: live concerts, street performances, sensory trails, exhibitions, and open-air art displays. Admission to the event is free. To facilitate visitor access, a free shuttle service is usually provided from the external parking areas to the historic center. The festival is traditionally held between late September and early October.
