Sicily's only musical nativity scene, set in the heart of Naro's historic center
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The Naro Musical Living Nativity is one of the most original Christmas events in Sicily. Staged in the town of Naro, a picturesque hillside village in the province of Agrigento, it is known as the island's only musical nativity: it combines the classic representation of the Nativity with acted scenes, live singing, dance, and original choreography, turning the sacred performance into a truly immersive show.
The event takes place within the Casa ContemplAttiva, housed in an ancient Augustinian monastery in Naro's historic center, with the entrance on Piazza Padre Favara. The cloisters and convent rooms are transformed into a reconstructed Bethlehem, where visitors are not just spectators but an integral part of the story, moving through the scenes one after another.
The audience is guided along a theatrical itinerary that winds through over a hundred performers, musicians, and actors. You will pass through artisan workshops and Herod's court before finally arriving at the Nativity cave, in a crescendo of music, lights, and atmosphere.
The nativity is conceived and directed by Massimiliano Arena and produced by the Associazione Culturale Camico - iContemplAttivi, a group that has been promoting evangelization through theater and music for years. The initiative has become a highly anticipated Christmas tradition for Naro and the entire Agrigento area.
Among the many Nativity representations that bring Sicily to life during the holidays, the Naro Musical Living Nativity stands out for its spectacular and participatory formula. It is a family-friendly experience that blends spirituality, popular tradition, and artistic quality in a setting of great historical charm.
The 2026 edition of the Naro Musical Living Nativity has not yet been announced at the time of publication. The event is typically held during the Christmas holidays, between December and Epiphany, in the cloisters of the Casa ContemplAttiva in Naro (Agrigento). For updated dates, times, and programs, please refer to the official channels of the Associazione Camico - iContemplAttivi.
