Global street food arrives on Via Roma
For four days, the central Via Roma in Rovereto, in the province of Trento and the heart of Trentino-Alto Adige, turns into a long open-air restaurant. This is the International Street Food festival, a traveling event dedicated to street food that visits dozens of Italian cities every year, bringing the flavors of the world to Trentino. The event is organized by A.I.R.S. — Associazione Italiana Ristoratori di Strada, under the patronage of the Municipality of Rovereto.
The beauty of the International Street Food festival lies in its variety: along the street, diverse culinary traditions stand side by side, ranging from Italian specialties to international favorites. Among the dishes animating the stalls are Spanish paella, Roman cuisine, Abruzzese arrosticini, scottona beef burgers, Argentine specialties, American barbecue, Mexican cuisine, smash burgers, and the traditional Hungarian kürtős, a cone-shaped pastry cooked over embers. To complete the experience, Italian and international craft breweries offer a wide selection of beers on tap.
The International Street Food festival is one of Italy's most popular traveling gastronomic tours: it moves from city to city, and Rovereto is one of the most anticipated stops on the Trentino calendar. Each edition is designed as a convivial, popular celebration with affordable prices and free entry, making it accessible to families, young people, and food enthusiasts alike. The choice of Via Roma stems from a collaboration with local merchants to bring vitality and crowds into the heart of the city.
From Thursday, June 18 to Sunday, June 21, 2026, Via Roma in Rovereto hosted the 47th stop of the national International Street Food tour, in an edition that celebrated the tenth anniversary of the event. The opening was on Thursday at 6:00 PM, with stalls active until midnight; from Friday to Sunday, the area remained open from 12:00 PM to 12:00 AM, with free admission.
Along the street, cuisines from half the world alternated: paella, Roman cuisine, arrosticini, scottona beef burgers, Argentine specialties, American barbecue, Mexican cuisine, smash burgers, and the traditional Hungarian kürtős. To complete the offer, Italian and international craft breweries were present, including the Guinness bar. The organizers requested that exhibitors keep prices controlled to ensure accessibility for the widest possible audience.
