Global street food on the Roman coast at Piazza Magellano
International Street Food is a traveling festival dedicated to street food that tours across Italy. Its stop on the Roman coast brings Piazza Magellano to life—the square known to locals as il Curvone, located in the X Municipality of Rome, in the province of Rome (Lazio). For a long weekend, the square fills with food trucks, vintage Ape cars, and mobile kitchens, bringing flavors, aromas, and traditions from every corner of the globe just steps from the sea.
The beauty of this event is its variety: from Abruzzese arrosticini to Spanish paella, from bombette pugliesi to Mexican and Argentinian cuisine, from Angus burgers and smash burgers to fried seafood cones and fried pizza, all the way to Hungarian kürtős and churros. Local specialties, such as smoked puccia pontina, are also featured, alongside a rich selection of Italian and international craft beers. Each stand is a small open kitchen where you can watch the preparation live before tasting.
International Street Food is designed as an open-air event for families, young people, and food enthusiasts. Admission is free: you can stroll freely among the trucks, choose what to try, and pay only for what you consume. The atmosphere is that of a classic outdoor festival, with background music, shared tables, and the chance to create your own tasting menu as you move from stand to stand. The event is promoted by A.I.R.S. — Associazione Italiana Ristoratori di Strada, chaired by Alfredo Orofino, which is one of the leading organizations in the sector in Italy with over two hundred events per year.
Choosing Ostia means combining the pleasure of dining with a day on the coast: the stop falls between late spring and the beginning of summer, when the Roman seaside comes back to life. Piazza Magellano is easily accessible from the center of Rome and is a historic meeting point for the neighborhood, ideal for combining a walk by the sea with a street food lunch or dinner.
From May 30 to June 2, 2026, Piazza Magellano in Ostia hosts the 37th stop of the tenth edition of International Street Food, the traveling festival dedicated to street food. A long weekend that combines the Republic Day holiday with a passion for gastronomy, featuring dozens of food trucks, craft beers, and Italian and international specialties. The 2026 edition celebrates ten years of the event's activity, which visits some of Italy's main locations throughout the year.
Among the specialties announced for the Ostia stop: paella, smoked puccia pontina, pulled pork, Angus burgers and smash burgers, Hungarian kürtős, arrosticini, gourmet fried foods, Mexican cuisine, churros, bombette pugliesi, octopus sandwiches, fried seafood cones, live-prepared creamy pasta, Argentinian cuisine, fried pizza, Thai cuisine, and a selection of craft beers.
