Operatic gala in the courtyard of the Svevo-Angioino Castle in Manfredonia
Il Palco all'Opera is the summer opera series that brings the courtyard of the Svevo-Angioino Castle in Manfredonia to life. Located on the gulf of the same name in the province of Foggia, in the heart of the Apulian Capitanata, the event is promoted by the Opera Talent APS association. It transforms one of the city's iconic monuments into an open-air stage where the great tradition of Italian opera meets the rising stars of the operatic world.
The hallmark of the series is the promotion of young performers: the stage features students from the singing classes of the "Umberto Giordano" Conservatory of Foggia, joined by established singers and accompanied on the piano by experienced masters. It is a precious opportunity for the public to discover new voices and for the students to perform before a real audience in an exceptional setting.
Il Palco all'Opera is part of the Manfredonia Festival program, the city's major summer cultural event, and the touring series Musica nelle Corti di Capitanata, which brings classical music to historical sites across the Foggia territory. The choice of the Castle and, in some editions, the spaces of the National Archaeological Museum, inextricably links the experience of opera with the discovery of the historical and archaeological heritage of Siponto.
Attending a concert in the castle courtyard, with the Angevin walls as a backdrop and the Adriatic sea breeze, offers an atmosphere that few concert halls can match. The series, now in its early years, has quickly established itself as one of the most refined summer events in Manfredonia, attracting classical music enthusiasts and curious visitors looking for a unique evening in Apulia.
The third edition of Il Palco all'Opera presents the operatic gala "Voci all'Opera. Tra Mozart e Puccini", organized by Opera Talent APS at the Castle of Manfredonia, as part of the Manfredonia Festival and the Musica nelle Corti di Capitanata series. The concert celebrates two musical milestones: the 270th anniversary of the birth of W. A. Mozart and the centenary of the world premiere of Turandot by Giacomo Puccini, through some of the most beloved arias of the operatic repertoire.
The evening is held under the patronage of the Municipality of Manfredonia and the "Umberto Giordano" Conservatory, with the support of the Fondazione Puglia.
Performers: soprano Francesca Rinaldi, soprano Angela Cataluddi, tenor Leonardo Gramegna, and young performers from the singing classes of the "Umberto Giordano" Conservatory.
Piano: Maestro Angelo Palmisano. Hosts: Alessandro Leone and Giulia D'Onofrio.
Thematic program: "Homage to W. A. Mozart on the 270th anniversary of his birth" and "Tribute to Giacomo Puccini on the centenary of Turandot", featuring famous arias and pages from the operatic repertoire.
Manfredonia can be reached by car via the A14 motorway (Foggia exit), continuing on the SS89, or by train to Foggia station followed by a connecting bus. The Svevo-Angioino Castle is located in the historic center, near the seafront.
Access methods vary from year to year: some editions offer free admission subject to availability, while others require a ticket linked to a visit to the Archaeological Museum. It is recommended to check the Manfredonia Festival and Opera Talent APS channels and book in advance, given the limited number of seats.
Arrive early (doors usually open about half an hour before the concert starts) and bring a light jacket for the outdoor evening.
