The farmers' and craft market in the park of Valdaora di Mezzo
Hof & Hand is the summer farmers' and craft market that enlivens the village of Valdaora (known as Olang in German), in the heart of the Puster Valley, in the province of Bolzano. The name combines two German words, Hof (farm) and Hand (hand), summarizing the spirit of the event: products sourced directly from farmsteads and objects handcrafted by local artisans. The setting is the picturesque park of Valdaora di Mezzo (Mitterolang), in the shadow of the Braies Dolomites and Plan de Corones.
The market focuses on a zero-kilometre philosophy: everything offered comes from the surrounding valleys, South Tyrolean farms, and local craft workshops. Strolling through the stalls, you will meet over fifteen exhibitors with a wide variety of typical products:
Beyond conscious shopping, Hof & Hand is a convivial meeting point for residents and holidaymakers. The afternoon is accompanied by musical entertainment and a refreshment stand managed by the Bauernjugend Olang (the rural youth of Valdaora), offering small local specialties and drinks. It is an ideal occasion for families and mountain lovers who wish to discover South Tyrolean farming culture in an authentic and relaxed way.
The event is certified as a GreenEvent (goingGreenEvent) by the Autonomous Province of Bolzano, a recognition reserved for events that are environmentally friendly, socially responsible, and attentive to the sustainable use of resources. Valdaora is easily accessible by public transport — the Puster Valley railway line runs regularly — helping to limit the event's environmental impact.
Hof & Hand takes place on select Wednesday afternoons between July and September, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, in the park of Valdaora di Mezzo. There is also a winter edition, which brings the same spirit to the snow-covered park during the cold season. The market is organized by the Valdaora Tourist Association in the Municipality of Valdaora, in Trentino-Alto Adige.
The farmers' and craft market of Valdaora returns in 2026 with four appointments in the park of Valdaora di Mezzo (Mitterolang), all on Wednesdays from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM:
On each date, visitors will find stalls from South Tyrolean producers with honey, speck and sausages, raw milk cheeses, vegetables and berries, herbal teas and salts, as well as local crafts: ceramics, wooden decorations, knitwear, bags, and bobbin lace. All accompanied by live music and a refreshment point managed by the rural youth of Valdaora. The event is certified as a GreenEvent by the Autonomous Province of Bolzano.
