About Gipfelklänge - Summit Sounds

Every Sunday throughout the summer, the summit of Plan de Corones (Kronplatz) at 2,275 metres transforms into a natural stage at the foot of the massive Concordia 2000 Peace Bell. Gipfelklänge - Summit Sounds brings the best of South Tyrolean musical tradition to the heights: brass bands, the deep resonance of Alpine horns, and Schuhplattler dance groups, all set against a 360-degree panoramic backdrop of the Dolomites. A free event in the municipality of Brunico, South Tyrol.

Gipfelklänge - Summit Sounds at the top of Plan de Corones

Gipfelklänge - Summit Sounds is the summer series of traditional music that brings the summit of Plan de Corones (Kronplatz) to life—the famous panoramic mountain in South Tyrol overlooking the Puster Valley. The concerts take place at an altitude of 2,275 metres, right next to the monumental Concordia 2000 Peace Bell, one of the region's most beloved landmarks.

Music, Alpine horns, and Schuhplattler

Every event weaves the grand scenery of the Dolomites together with the sounds and expressions of South Tyrolean culture. On the natural stage at the summit, local brass bands, the powerful sound of Alpine horns (Alphorn), and the lively traditional dances of Schuhplattler groups take turns performing. Featured ensembles include the Kronplatz Alphornbläser, Die Speckbruatbuibn aus Uina, Musikkapelle Uttenheim, Musikkapelle Stegen, the Ja logisch! group, the Mühlbacher Marktlquintett, and the Schuhplattler Salvans.

A 360-degree experience

The concerts are held outdoors in the summit basin of Plan de Corones, offering 360-degree views of the Dolomite peaks and the Zillertal Alps. The Concordia 2000 Peace Bell, standing approximately 22 metres tall and weighing 18 tonnes, is one of the largest bells in the Alps; inside, a bronze viewing platform reproduces the surrounding mountain landscape. Every day at noon, the bell rings out its message of peace.

The setting: Plan de Corones and the Puster Valley

The festival is part of the rich summer calendar of the Kronplatz area, involving the Municipality of Brunico and the nearby towns of Riscone, Valdaora, and San Vigilio di Marebbe in the heart of South Tyrol. The summit is easily accessible by cable car and gondola from several sides, making Gipfelklänge - Summit Sounds an event suitable for families—an authentic way to experience the mountains by combining hiking, panoramic views, and musical tradition.

A free event

Attendance at the concerts is free: simply reach the summit using the Plan de Corones ski lifts. The festival is organised by Skirama Kronplatz and takes place every year during the summer months, with multiple dates scheduled between late June and mid-September.
