The village of Montopoli in Val d'Arno celebrates the Marzuolo truffle and local culinary excellence
Every spring, the village of Montopoli in Val d'Arno, in the heart of the lower Valdarno in the province of Pisa, comes alive with Gustopolis, a market fair dedicated to the Marzuolo truffle and local products. For an entire weekend, the squares and alleys of the historic center turn into a sprawling showcase of flavors, crafts, and traditions, where producers, artisans, and restaurateurs share the culinary identity of this corner of Tuscany.
Gustopolis is more than just a festival: it is a project aimed at using local excellence to boost regional tourism, integrating food, craftsmanship, and community. Along the village streets, you will find food and craft stalls featuring Marzuolo truffles alongside wines, extra virgin olive oil, cured meats, and local specialties, while the ARTour project dedicates specific spaces to local art workshops, ranging from ceramics to leather goods, in Piazza Michele da Montopoli.
The heart of the event lies in the cooking shows featuring local chefs and producers, Food & Talk sessions dedicated to product secrets and local food history, and truffle hunting demonstrations with dogs, which reveal the ancient techniques of this craft to the public. There are also guided tours of artisan workshops and a rich calendar of workshops and activities for children, making Gustopolis a festival designed for the whole family.
Visiting Gustopolis is also the perfect opportunity to explore Montopoli in Val d'Arno, a medieval village overlooking the Tuscan countryside, halfway between Pisa and Florence. Between the tower, the churches, and the views over the Valdarno, the event offers an authentic immersion into the gastronomic culture of Tuscany, with free admission to all activities.
The 2026 edition of Gustopolis brought the historic center of Montopoli in Val d'Arno to life on March 28 and 29, confirming the event as a premier showcase for the Marzuolo truffle and typical Valdarno products. Two days packed with stalls, cooking shows, talks, and family activities, including the ARTour project dedicated to local art workshops.
Throughout the weekend: food and craft stalls, ARTour project in Piazza Michele da Montopoli with art workshops (ceramics, leather goods), guided tours of artisan shops, and activities for children.
