Every spring, the Castello del Monferrato, located in Piazza Castello in Casale Monferrato (Alessandria province, Piedmont), becomes the beating heart of Golosaria in Monferrato. This major food and wine festival, curated by ilGolosario, involves dozens of municipalities across the Monferrato hills, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The Casale leg is the most spectacular, concentrating tastings, street food, and meetings with producers within the manor's historic courtyards and halls.

Barbera & Champagne, the oenological core

The Barbera & Champagne section is the event's hallmark. Inside the castle, you will find tasting counters dedicated to Barbera del Monferrato and Barbera d'Asti, complemented by a sensory journey through sparkling wines: over a hundred labels ranging from Champagne produced by small French vignerons to the finest Italian Classic Method wines, from Alta Langa to local sparklers. Three themed wine bars and a DOC center allow visitors to meet producers directly and compare different styles and vintages.

The Food Festival

Alongside the wine, the Food Festival fills the castle courtyards with street food, craft breweries, and stalls from producers selected by ilGolosario, where you can taste and purchase cheeses, cured meats, desserts, and local specialties. It is the most convivial and popular part of the event, designed for families and food lovers who want to sample the best of Monferrato cuisine while strolling through historic walls.

Masterclasses and guided tastings

The program includes limited-seating guided wine tastings dedicated to the different nuances of Barbera d'Asti DOCG, Barbera del Monferrato Superiore, and Alta Langa, led by the Consorzio Barbera d'Asti e Vini del Monferrato. These are free, reservation-required sessions that offer an in-depth look at the oenological richness of this land.
