Every second Sunday of the month, over 300 antique and vintage stalls at the Mercato Pavia in Casale Monferrato
The Casale Monferrato Antique Market is one of the most beloved and deeply rooted events in the Piedmontese collecting calendar. Every second Sunday of the month (with the sole exception of August), the charming Mercato Pavia in Piazza Castello — an ancient Art Nouveau-style structure once used as a livestock market — transforms into a vast labyrinth of stalls where rarity seekers, antique dealers, collectors, and curious visitors meet for a true treasure hunt.
With over 300 exhibitors, including professional dealers and hobbyists, the market has been a landmark for decades for those who appreciate beauty and history in the town of Casale Monferrato, in the province of Alessandria, in the heart of the Piedmontese Monferrato.
Variety is one of the keys to this event's success. Strolling through the stalls, you can discover:
Founded in the early 1970s, the Casale Monferrato Antique Market celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2023, confirming its status as one of Italy's longest-running and most renowned antique markets. Over the decades, it has maintained its unique charm, attracting thousands of visitors from all over Northern Italy every month and helping to make Casale Monferrato a small Piedmontese capital of collecting.
Enriching the day is the Farmer Market, set up outside in front of the Palazzina Liberty: a food market dedicated to the best zero-mile products from the Monferrato territory, where you can buy honey, seasonal fruits and vegetables, cheeses, cured meats, and other local delicacies directly from the producers.
During certain months of the year — traditionally May, October, and November — the market features an expanded version, with an even greater number of stalls that also occupy the Salone Tartara, offering a particularly rich selection. The event is largely held indoors, making it enjoyable even in uncertain weather.
For 2026, the Casale Monferrato Antique Market continues its monthly schedule, every second Sunday of the month at the Mercato Pavia. Admission is free, and hours are from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
