In the 2026 edition, the 5th stage, from Longarone to Santo Stefano di Cadore, represents the queen mountain stage, with a route that crosses the territory of Cortina d'Ampezzo (province of Belluno) and its most famous passes.
A high mountain stage
After the start from Longarone, the course gradually climbs along the Piave and Boite valleys towards Cortina d'Ampezzo, then tackles the Passo Tre Croci (approx. 7.8 km at 7.5%), located within the Ampezzo municipality, and the Passo di Sant'Antonio (7.6 km at 8.3%). The finale includes a circuit around Santo Stefano di Cadore with the climb of Costalissoio tackled twice, for a total elevation gain of over 3,400 meters.
