The queen stage of the Dolomites passing through Cortina and climbing the Passo Tre Croci
The Giro d'Italia Women is the most important stage race in Italian women's cycling. In the 2026 edition, the 5th stage, from Longarone to Santo Stefano di Cadore, represents the queen mountain stage, with a route that crosses the territory of Cortina d'Ampezzo (province of Belluno) and its most famous passes.
After the start from Longarone, the course gradually climbs along the Piave and Boite valleys towards Cortina d'Ampezzo, then tackles the Passo Tre Croci (approx. 7.8 km at 7.5%), located within the Ampezzo municipality, and the Passo di Sant'Antonio (7.6 km at 8.3%). The finale includes a circuit around Santo Stefano di Cadore with the climb of Costalissoio tackled twice, for a total elevation gain of over 3,400 meters.
The passage of the women's pink race confirms the role of Cortina d'Ampezzo and the Veneto Dolomites as a privileged stage for great cycling. Historic climbs like the Passo Tre Croci, already a venue for stages of the men's Giro, welcome the champions of the international peloton here on a day that promises spectacle and selection for the general classification.
The 5th stage of the Giro d'Italia Women 2026 takes place on Wednesday, June 3, 2026 on the Longarone - Santo Stefano di Cadore route, approximately 146 km with over 3,400 meters of elevation gain. It is the queen stage of the Dolomites: after the climb along the Piave and Boite valleys towards Cortina d'Ampezzo, the cyclists will tackle the Passo Tre Croci and the Passo di Sant'Antonio, before finishing on a circuit around Santo Stefano di Cadore with the double ascent of Costalissoio.
Four mountain passes and over 3,400 m of elevation gain make this the high mountain stage of the race. Detailed passage times are published on the official website.
The route crosses the Boite Valley towards Cortina d'Ampezzo (SS51) and climbs to Passo Tre Croci (SR48). Temporary road closures are expected along the route during the race passage.
Route, altitude profiles, and passage times are published on the official website giroditaliawomen.it.
