The ACSI amateur road cycling race in Villata, in the heart of the Vercelli plains
The G.P. di Primavera is one of the most anticipated cycling races for local amateurs, held in Villata, a town in the Province of Vercelli, in the heart of Piedmont's rice-growing plains. The event is organized by the ASD Bike Team A Ruota Libera, a cycling club deeply rooted in the Vercelli area, under the aegis of the sports promotion body ACSI (Association of Culture, Sport, and Leisure).
The race takes place on a completely flat 11 km circuit, to be repeated six times for a total of approximately 66 km. The track passes through the village of Villata and the neighboring towns of Casalvolone and Borgo Vercelli, winding through the fields and rice paddies typical of the Piedmontese Po Valley landscape. The flat nature of the course makes it particularly suitable for sprints and high average speeds, ensuring exciting and hard-fought finishes.
The G.P. di Primavera welcomes a wide range of amateur cycling categories: from Supergentlemen to Women, from Beginners to Juniors, as well as Gentlemen, Seniors, and Veterans. Starts are staggered throughout the day by category, allowing each group to race safely. The event is valid as a round of the Biella and Vercelli amateur cycling circuits and challenges, and represents a fixed appointment in the Piedmontese spring calendar.
The meeting point is at the Bar Croce Bianca, in Largo Guglielmo Marconi, a local landmark that becomes the beating heart of the event for the day. Beyond the competition, the G.P. di Primavera is an occasion for celebration and gathering for Villata and the entire community of cycling enthusiasts in the Province of Vercelli, who have supported the initiatives of the Bike Team A Ruota Libera with enthusiasm for years. A day that combines competition, sporting tradition, and a love for two wheels.
