The contemporary and dialect theater festival of the Municipality of Cerano
The Sala Crespi Theater Season is a live performance festival that, from May to December, brings theater to the Municipality of Cerano, in the province of Novara, at the eastern edge of Piedmont, just a stone's throw from the Ticino River and the Lombardy border. Promoted by the Sports and Culture Office of the Municipality together with the Rise Up Cultural Association, the season offers a varied program that spans different genres and languages: from contemporary research-based theater to dialect comedy, and from dance-theater to reinterpretations of the great classics.
Performances are held at the Sala Crespi, located in Piazzale dei Lavoratori, which has always been a point of reference for cultural life in Cerano. It is here that professional companies, young artists under 35, and local groups take the stage in a program designed to bring a wide audience closer to theater: residents, families, and enthusiasts from neighboring towns in the Novara area.
The artistic heart of the festival is Rise Up, a theater production house and academy based in Novara, founded by Antonio Roma. It defines itself as a community of artists under 35 that focuses on artistic research, training, and experimentation. The collaboration with the Municipality of Cerano allows for bringing performances to the Sala Crespi that range from devised theater to dance-theater productions.
For most events, booking is required, to be made through the Cerano Municipal Library. The Sala Crespi Theater Season confirms the cultural vocation of a small Piedmontese town capable of building, year after year, a high-quality theatrical offering.
The 2026 Theater Season at the Sala Crespi in Cerano runs from May through December, with performances organized by the Municipality and the Rise Up Cultural Association. The program combines contemporary theater, dance-theater, and dialect comedy, featuring professional companies and young artists. The first three events are already confirmed, while new titles will be announced progressively from July onwards. Booking is required for every performance via the Municipal Library.
The program continues with further performances from July to December 2026, to be announced throughout the year by the Municipality of Cerano.
Performances are held at the Sala Crespi, Piazzale dei Lavoratori 2, 28065 Cerano (NO). Some events are also hosted in the spaces of the Municipal Library, in Piazzale Lavoratori.
Cerano is located in the Novara area, near the Ticino River and the border with Lombardy. By car, it can be reached from the A4 Turin–Milan motorway (Novara or Marcallo–Mesero exits). By public transport, the reference railway station is Novara, which is connected to Cerano by local bus lines.
Depending on the performance, entry is free, by voluntary contribution, or ticketed (usually between 10 and 15 euros). Booking is almost always mandatory.
