The autumn walk of the Gamba d'Oro circuit in Cavaglio d'Agogna
In Cavaglio d'Agogna, a municipality of just over a thousand inhabitants in the Province of Novara, Piedmont, autumn brings one of the community's most cherished events: Cavaglio che corre, the autumn stage of the Gamba d'Oro circuit. This is not a race for elite athletes, but a non-competitive fun run: you can run to improve your personal best or simply walk with friends, enjoying the colors of the Novara countryside.
The Gamba d'Oro is a historic running circuit in Upper Piedmont that has been bringing together dozens of stages across the Province of Novara, with some extensions into the Vercelli area, for nearly half a century. Every year, the calendar offers numerous non-competitive walks organized by local Pro Loco associations from March to October. Cavaglio d'Agogna is a key location, hosting two stages: one in spring and this one in autumn, which ideally closes the local circuit season.
The format follows the typical Gamba d'Oro style, designed to be truly inclusive. Two routes are available: a more challenging 10 km course for those who want to test their endurance, and a short 2 km route ideal for families, children, and casual walkers. The paths wind through the village streets and the country trails surrounding Cavaglio d'Agogna, set in a gentle landscape of rice paddies and hills at the gateway to the Novara region.
Beyond the sporting aspect, Cavaglio che corre is above all a moment of community gathering. The event is managed by the Pro Loco Tourist Association of Cavaglio d'Agogna, which handles registration and welcomes participants at the Casetta Pro Loco on Via Cavaglietto. At the end of the walk, there is always a refreshment area and the traditional social gathering, making the event a perfect opportunity to discover the hospitality of this corner of Piedmont.
The 2026 autumn edition of Cavaglio che corre takes place on Sunday, October 4, 2026, as part of the official calendar of the Gamba d'Oro circuit in Upper Piedmont. The meeting point is set for the morning at the Casetta Pro Loco on Via Cavaglietto, in Cavaglio d'Agogna (Province of Novara).
