The Italian Rallycross Championship rounds at the Maggiora Offroad Arena
The Maggiora Offroad Arena, located in the municipality of Maggiora (Province of Novara, Piedmont), is considered the cradle of Italian rallycross. Overlooking the hills of Novara, the arena is managed by the Sport Club Maggiora, which also promotes the Italian Rallycross Championship (CIRX) under the supervision of the ACI Sport Offroad Commission. Multiple rounds of the national championship are held here every year, making Maggiora a benchmark for the entire national off-road scene.
Rallycross is a spectacular motorsport discipline that blends asphalt and dirt on a compact, closed circuit. Cars start together in close-quarter heats and face off in short, intense races where overtaking, drifting, jumps, and contact are all part of the action. It is the most direct and adrenaline-fueled motorsport to experience in person: the audience follows the entire track from the sidelines, watching the cars fly by just a few meters away.
The Italian Rallycross Championship features several classes, which in recent years have included:
The Maggiora track is also used in a reverse configuration (Maggiora Reverse) to offer both the public and drivers a different layout throughout the season.
The Maggiora rounds are spread throughout the season: the traditional opening event on the Easter weekend in April, a night race in spring/summer, and an autumn round. The full CIRX calendar also visits other Italian tracks (in the past, Chignolo Po in the province of Pavia, Magione in Umbria, and Ittiri in Sardinia), but it is in Maggiora that the championship truly comes to life.
Beyond the national championship competitions, the Maggiora Offroad Arena promotes community-focused events, such as the RX For All day dedicated to inclusivity. The Novara-based facility is also FIA-recognized, confirming the international standard of the venue.
The 2026 Italian Rallycross Championship makes Maggiora one of its main venues, with multiple rounds scheduled at the Maggiora Offroad Arena throughout the season. The opening is set for the Easter weekend in April, with the usual debut round; followed by a spring event (also in the Maggiora Reverse configuration) and an autumn round. The full CIRX calendar also visits other Italian tracks.
The national championship categories will be competing: RX1, RX5 Supercar, RX3, Super1600, Kart Cross, Sport RX, and STC touring classes. Detailed schedules for practice, qualifying, and finals for each round are published on official channels closer to the event.
The 2026 national CIRX calendar also includes rounds on other Italian tracks in addition to Maggiora. Full program and registration at rxitalia.com.
The highlights are the opening round on Easter weekend, a true classic of Italian rallycross, and the spectacular challenge on the Maggiora track with the powerful RX1 / RX5 Supercar vehicles. Don't miss the Maggiora Reverse configuration, which flips the track for a unique challenge.
