The home of rallycross in the province of Novara

The Maggiora Offroad Arena, located in the municipality of Maggiora (Province of Novara, Piedmont), is considered the cradle of Italian rallycross. Overlooking the hills of Novara, the arena is managed by the Sport Club Maggiora, which also promotes the Italian Rallycross Championship (CIRX) under the supervision of the ACI Sport Offroad Commission. Multiple rounds of the national championship are held here every year, making Maggiora a benchmark for the entire national off-road scene.

What is rallycross?

Rallycross is a spectacular motorsport discipline that blends asphalt and dirt on a compact, closed circuit. Cars start together in close-quarter heats and face off in short, intense races where overtaking, drifting, jumps, and contact are all part of the action. It is the most direct and adrenaline-fueled motorsport to experience in person: the audience follows the entire track from the sidelines, watching the cars fly by just a few meters away.

Race categories

The Italian Rallycross Championship features several classes, which in recent years have included:

• RX1 / RX5 Supercar — the premier category, featuring the most powerful cars;
• RX3 and Super1600 — intermediate classes;
• Kart Cross — single-seater kart-cross, a training ground for many young drivers;
• Sport RX and the STC touring categories.

The Maggiora track is also used in a reverse configuration (Maggiora Reverse) to offer both the public and drivers a different layout throughout the season.

A year-round calendar

The Maggiora rounds are spread throughout the season: the traditional opening event on the Easter weekend in April, a night race in spring/summer, and an autumn round. The full CIRX calendar also visits other Italian tracks (in the past, Chignolo Po in the province of Pavia, Magione in Umbria, and Ittiri in Sardinia), but it is in Maggiora that the championship truly comes to life.

More than just racing

Beyond the national championship competitions, the Maggiora Offroad Arena promotes community-focused events, such as the RX For All day dedicated to inclusivity. The Novara-based facility is also FIA-recognized, confirming the international standard of the venue.
