Four evenings under the pines of Marina di Cecina dedicated to traditional Tuscan fried rabbit
The Fried Rabbit Festival is a new gastronomic event held in Marina di Cecina, a seaside hamlet in the municipality of Cecina, in the province of Livorno, in the heart of the Tuscan coast. The event transforms the greenery of Parco I Pini, located on Viale Galliano just a short walk from the seafront, into a large open-air restaurant for four evenings in late June. Part of the Food Festival calendar that enlivens the Cecinella pine forest, the festival focuses on a simple and iconic dish of Tuscan popular cuisine: fried rabbit.
Fried rabbit is one of those recipes that smells like Sunday lunches and family gatherings, where tender meat meets a crispy, dry, and irresistible golden coating. It is a cornerstone of Tuscan peasant cooking, served at many regional festivals and celebrated here as the absolute star of the evenings. Alongside the signature dish, the food stalls offer a selection of local specialties, tasty side dishes, and excellent beer, creating a menu designed for those seeking the authentic flavors of the region.
The beauty of this festival lies in its setting: the Parco I Pini pine forest, cool and shaded, provides an ideal summer evening for dining outdoors with the sea breeze and the scent of fried food. The festival is open for dinner only, allowing you to combine a day at the beach with a sunset stroll along the promenade before sitting down to eat. It is the perfect opportunity to discover the popular cuisine of Tuscany in a convivial and relaxed atmosphere, among families, friends, and tourists vacationing on the Livorno coast.
Marina di Cecina is one of the most popular seaside resorts in the province of Livorno, appreciated for its long beach, pine forest, and the numerous summer gastronomic festivals that take place at Parco I Pini. The Fried Rabbit Festival is part of this rich program of events that, from spring to summer, makes the Cecinella park a meeting point for good food lovers. A genuine experience in the heart of the Etruscan Coast, where Tuscan gastronomic tradition meets a seaside holiday.
