Three evenings of Abruzzo flavors in the village of Turrivalignani
The Fried Pizza and Arrosticini Festival is one of the most anticipated gastronomic events of the summer in Turrivalignani, a charming village in the province of Pescara, Abruzzo. Every year, in early July, the historic center and specifically Piazza Enrico Berlinguer in Contrada Pescarina become the beating heart of a popular celebration that draws visitors from across the province and neighboring towns.
The festival's name says it all: the focus is on two cornerstones of Abruzzo cuisine. On one hand, there is pizza fritta (fried pizza), crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, filled with tomato, cheese, and ham; on the other, arrosticini, the famous sheep meat skewers cooked over the embers of a traditional Abruzzo grill. Alongside these two stars, you will find other local specialties served at the food stalls, which open every evening at 8:00 PM.
The festival is about more than just food: every evening features live musical performances, including dance orchestras, Latin American music, ballroom dancing, and cabaret. The dance floor comes alive around 9:00 PM, when the square fills with long tables, families, and people of all ages. It is the quintessential spirit of Abruzzo village festivals, defined by conviviality, tradition, and a strong sense of community.
The event is organized by the Pro Loco Turrivalignani APS, which has managed the festival for over twenty years with the patronage of the Municipality of Turrivalignani. Established in the early 2000s, the festival reached its twenty-fourth edition in 2026, solidifying its place as a staple of the Abruzzo summer calendar.
The 24th edition of the festival was held from July 3 to 5, 2026, in Piazza Enrico Berlinguer, Turrivalignani. The classic specialties—fried pizza and arrosticini—were confirmed, with food stalls open from 8:00 PM and music starting at 9:00 PM.
