A day of art, music, local flavors, and tradition beneath a sky of colorful umbrellas
Manoppello under the Umbrellas has become the most recognizable summer event in Manoppello, a town in the province of Pescara nestled at the foot of the Maiella mountains in Abruzzo. The event's name perfectly captures its most famous feature: over three hundred meters of colorful umbrellas suspended in the air along Corso Santarelli and its side streets, turning the historic center into an open-air gallery that glows by day and enchants by night.
For an entire day, lasting until late at night, the village becomes a sprawling stage. The program weaves together live music, DJ sets, performances, and art installations, with squares and alleys buzzing with concerts, street performers, and entertainment. The food and wine sceneโthe heart of any Abruzzese eveningโis also a highlight:
The festival is part of the broader summer calendar Manoppello under the Stars, which brings concerts, theatrical shows, children's events, tournaments, and traditional festivals to the historic center, the Scalo area, and the surrounding districts from June to September. Within this, Manoppello under the Umbrellas stands out as the most anticipated and characteristic day, made possible by the collaboration between the municipal administration, local associations, and volunteers.
The event is promoted by the Municipality of Manoppello together with the Pro Loco Volto Santo, the Alpini Group, local associations, and local businesses. Participation is free.
Manoppello is known throughout Italy for the Sanctuary of the Holy Face, a pilgrimage destination home to the relic of the veil bearing the image of Christ's face. Nestled between the hills of Pescara and the slopes of the Maiella National Park, the village blends spirituality, nature, and popular traditions. Manoppello under the Umbrellas is the perfect opportunity to discover this corner of Abruzzo, strolling under the umbrellas while enjoying the music, flavors, and hospitality of the historic center.
On Saturday, August 22, 2026, the historic center of Manoppello, in the province of Pescara, will once again be adorned with its characteristic ceiling of colorful umbrellas along Corso Santarelli. The day will feature performances, live music, DJ sets, food and wine stalls, selfie spots, and children's entertainment, bringing the village's alleys and squares to life for all ages.
The event is part of the Manoppello under the Stars 2026 summer program, promoted by the Municipality of Manoppello, which brings culture, music, sports, and traditions to the historic center and surrounding districts from June to September. The detailed program, including schedules and artists, will be published by the organizers in the weeks leading up to the event.
Manoppello is located in the province of Pescara, Abruzzo. By car, it can be reached via the A25 motorway (Alanno-Scafa or Chieti-Pescara exits) and the Val Pescara state roads. The Manoppello Scalo train station is on the Rome-Pescara line.
Admission to the event is free. For the detailed program and updated schedules, we recommend checking the official channels of the Municipality of Manoppello and the Pro Loco Volto Santo.
Many activities take place in the evening and continue late into the night: we recommend wearing comfortable shoes for exploring the historic center and stopping by the food and wine stalls along Corso Santarelli.
