A celebration of flavor dedicated to sheep meat in the heart of the Pescara Valley
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The Sheep Festival in Torre de' Passeri is one of the most anticipated summer culinary events in the central Pescara Valley, in the province of Pescara. Originally a village feast dedicated to sheep-based cuisine, in recent years it has transformed into a true paradise for meat lovers, expanding its menu and bringing the excellence of a pastoral traditionโdeeply rooted in the history of transhumance in Abruzzoโto the town square.
The heart of the festival is sheep and lamb meat, prepared according to simple and authentic recipes. Among the offerings that Pro Loco 2.0 brings to the stalls in Piazza Papa Giovanni XXIII are:
Everything is accompanied by local wines and beers, in a convivial atmosphere that attracts families and visitors from neighboring towns.
The Sheep Festival is not just about food: the evenings come alive with live music and DJ sets that keep Piazza Papa Giovanni XXIII dancing until late at night. Recent editions have featured tribute concerts to Italian singer-songwriters and evenings dedicated to the greatest hits of the seventies and eighties, with musical selections and charismatic hosts turning the square into an open-air dance floor.
The event is part of the rich Torrestate calendar, a series of summer events promoted by the Municipality of Torre de' Passeri together with local associations, which animates the town's squares for months with festivals, concerts, shows, and appointments for all ages. The Sheep Festival represents one of the culinary highlights of this program, successfully combining the promotion of local products with the pleasure of summer conviviality.
Torre de' Passeri is a lively town in the province of Pescara, in Abruzzo, located along the Pescara River valley and well-connected to both the hinterland and the Adriatic coast. Visiting the festival is also the perfect opportunity to explore the village, the nearby Abbey of San Clemente a Casauria, and the hilly landscapes that frame this celebration of the authentic flavors of the Abruzzese mountains.
The Sheep Festival in Torre de' Passeri returns, as is tradition, in July as part of the Torrestate summer program. As of today, the official dates and the program for the 2026 edition have not yet been released by Pro Loco 2.0. We anticipate the usual gathering in Piazza Papa Giovanni XXIII with arrosticini, lamb, Abruzzese pecorino, and live music evenings. For definitive information, we recommend following the organization's social media channels.
