About Fregnacce Festival

In August, Piazza San Domenico in Rocchetta a Volturno (Isernia) fills with the aromas of fregnacce, a typical fresh pasta from Molise. Organized by the Le Sorgenti Association, the festival combines food stalls with music and an original twinning with the "Kalipè al Monviso 3841" association, symbolically linking the sources of the Volturno River to those of the Po. A celebration of taste and friendship in the heart of Alto Volturno.

Fregnacce: The Taste of Alto Volturno

In Rocchetta a Volturno, a village in Alto Volturno in the province of Isernia, the Fregnacce Festival celebrates one of the most authentic dishes of Molise tradition: fregnacce, a simple and flavourful homemade fresh pasta, a symbol of the peasant cuisine of these lands. The festival takes place in Piazza San Domenico, the heart of the village, where food stalls offer the typical dish accompanied by local products.

A Festival with National Reach

Organized by the Le Sorgenti Association, the event has taken on a significance that goes beyond the village in recent years: it is indeed the stage for a striking twinning with the "Kalipè al Monviso 3841" association, which ideally unites the sources of the Volturno River with those of the Po. A symbolic link between two mountainous territories and two great Italian rivers, sealed during the festival.

Taste and Music

Between one plate of fregnacce and another, the evening is enlivened by music and the convivial atmosphere that characterizes Molise festivals, bringing together residents, returning emigrants, and visitors in an authentic celebration at the foot of the Mainarde mountains.

In 2026, the Le Sorgenti Association will once again host the Fregnacce Festival in Piazza San Domenico, Rocchetta a Volturno.
