A world of essences and perfumes in the historic center of Venaria Reale
Fragranzia is an event entirely dedicated to the world of essences, perfumes, and fragrances that brings the historic center of Venaria Reale, in the Metropolitan City of Turin, to life every May in the heart of Piedmont. Originally conceived as the olfactory branch of the historic Rose Festival, Fragranzia has carved out its own unique identity over the years, turning the village streets into a sensory path just steps away from the famous Royal Palace of Venaria.
The heart of the event lies in the olfactory workshops and sensory paths held in the Gino Vanzi exhibition hall on Via Mensa. Visitors can test themselves with guided experiences discovering the hidden power of the sense of smell: from a blindfolded journey through floral essences, spices, and evocative aromas, to paths revealing the secret elegance of botanicals and perfumes. The activities are designed for both adults and children, with educational games that invite kids to identify mysterious fragrances relying solely on their noses.
Fragranzia takes place in parallel with the Rose Festival: along Via Mensa, Piazza Vittorio Veneto, and Viale Buridani, you will find traditional stalls featuring plants, flowers, aromatic herbs, and a rich selection of typical food and wine products. Gardening enthusiasts, perfume lovers, and families can stroll among the floral displays and artisanal stands that add color and fragrance to the historic center.
The backdrop is the Royal Palace of Venaria, a UNESCO World Heritage Savoy residence, which frames the event and hosts some of its most evocative moments, from the Flower Festival (Infiorata) composed of tens of thousands of rose petals to musical performances. Fragranzia is promoted by the Fondazione Via Maestra in partnership with the City of Venaria Reale and the collaboration of the Consortium of Savoy Royal Residences, representing one of the most beloved opportunities to discover the Venaria village in spring.
The 2026 edition of Fragranzia was held on May 16 and 17, alongside the 22nd Rose Festival. For two days, from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm, the historic center of Venaria Reale and Piazza Annunziata came alive with stalls of flowers, plants, herbs, and typical products along Via Mensa, Piazza Vittorio Veneto, and Viale Buridani.
On Sunday, May 17, starting at 3:00 pm, the Gino Vanzi exhibition hall on Via Mensa hosted sensory paths and olfactory workshops dedicated to adults and children, free upon reservation. The event was promoted by the Fondazione Via Maestra and the City of Venaria Reale, in collaboration with the Consortium of Savoy Royal Residences.
In parallel, the Rose Festival featured the Infiorata of 50,000 rose petals in the Chapel of Sant'Uberto, the "Floral Catwalk" in Piazza Pettiti, dance performances, and a concert by the Suzuki Orchestra.
Venaria Reale is located just a few kilometers from Turin. By car, take the Turin ring road and exit at Venaria/Savonera. By train, the Venaria Reale station is connected to Turin; numerous GTT bus lines also connect the city center with the Royal Palace and the historic center.
The olfactory experiences of Fragranzia are held in the Gino Vanzi exhibition hall on Via Mensa, while the stalls and floral displays animate the historic center between Via Mensa, Piazza Vittorio Veneto, and Viale Buridani.
Admission and olfactory activities are free; booking is recommended for workshops. Info and bookings: Fondazione Via Maestra, tel. +39 011 4241124, [email protected].
