The non-competitive walking event through the hills of Forcoli, in Palaia
The Forcoli Hills March is one of the longest-running and most anticipated amateur walking events in Tuscany. It takes place every year on the last Sunday of May in Forcoli, a lively village in the municipality of Palaia, nestled in the hilly countryside south of Pontedera, in the province of Pisa. Now in its 48th edition, the event maintains a legacy that has spanned decades, making this march a classic for walkers and running enthusiasts from all over Tuscany.
This is a non-competitive walking event, open to everyone regardless of age or fitness level: families, children, casual strollers, and seasoned runners all share the same path, each at their own pace. Four distances are available to suit every need:
The meeting point and start are located at the Centro Nuova Primavera in Forcoli, in Piazza Sant'Antonio. Refreshment stations are set up along the routes, where participants can refuel with water, fruit, and local snacks before continuing their journey through vineyards, olive groves, and the quintessential landscapes of the Tuscan countryside.
The Forcoli Hills March is part of the Trofeo delle Tre Province calendar, a circuit managed by the CIMS (Comitato Interprovinciale Marce Sportive) that brings together non-competitive marches across the provinces of Pisa, Florence, and Lucca. Participating means joining a network of enthusiasts who fill the roads and trails of Tuscany every Sunday in a spirit of healthy competition and friendship.
Forcoli is one of the most populous villages in the municipality of Palaia, a land of medieval hamlets, Romanesque churches, and hills cultivated with vines and olive trees. The march is also an opportunity to discover this authentic corner of the province of Pisa, far from major tourist circuits and deeply rooted in local traditions of volunteering and sports associations.
The 2026 edition, the 48th annual event, was held on Sunday, May 31, in Forcoli (Palaia, Pisa). The proven formula of a non-competitive walking event open to everyone was confirmed, with refreshment stops along the way and inclusion in the Trofeo delle Tre Province circuit.
