The half marathon in the heart of Empoli, winding through the city's streets and squares
The Empoli Half Marathon is a premier running event that brings road racing into the center of Empoli, a city in the Province of Florence, Tuscany, located along the Arno river and just a few kilometers from Vinci, the birthplace of Leonardo. The event features an entirely urban course that winds through many of the city's streets and squares, offering participants a vibrant, lively atmosphere with spectators cheering along the route.
The program is designed to accommodate every level of fitness and motivation, from competitive athletes to casual Sunday walkers:
The event headquarters is Piazza della Vittoria, where bib collection and award ceremonies take place. The half marathon and 10K start from Via Roma in the city center, while the cardio-walk departs directly from the square. The course winds through the city streets, monitored by staff and volunteers, and all participants are required to respect local traffic regulations.
Beyond the competitive challenge, the Empoli Half Marathon is intended as a day of celebration for the entire community: the temporary closure of several city streets transforms Empoli into a large open-air circuit where sport, social life, and urban vitality meet. The race builds on the legacy of previous Empoli running events, which have already attracted hundreds of athletes from across Tuscany, and aims to grow as a benchmark running event in the Valdarno Fiorentino area.
The 2nd edition of the Empoli Half Marathon takes place during the weekend of October 3-4, 2026, in the center of Empoli, in the Province of Florence. The main event day is Sunday, October 4, with staggered starts for the three races and all operations concentrated around Piazza della Vittoria and Via Roma. Following organizational issues in the previous edition, the organizers have offered free registration to 2025 participants as a gesture of commitment to relaunching the event.
The 21.097 km half marathon is recognized by FIDAL and features official EVODATA chip timing with rankings validated by judges and published on ENDU; similar timing applies to the 10K. The 3K cardio-walk remains a non-competitive fun event without chips or rankings, led by trainer Jill Cooper and open to all.

EVODATA chip timing for 21K and 10K, rankings on ENDU validated by judges. The 3K is without chips or rankings (fun event with Jill Cooper).
Empoli is easily accessible by train: the Empoli station is on the FlorenceโPisa line, with frequent connections from Florence Santa Maria Novella (approx. 30 minutes). By car, take the Empoli exit from the FI-PI-LI highway. The city center will be subject to temporary road closures and traffic changes during the race days: we recommend using peripheral parking lots.
Registrations and rankings are managed via the ENDU platform. A competitive medical certificate is required for the half marathon and the 10K; the 3 km cardio-walk is open to everyone without a certificate. We recommend checking fees and procedures on the official channels.
All operations (bib collection, 3K start, award ceremonies) are centered around Piazza della Vittoria. The 21K and 10K races start from Via Roma.
