The Giuseppe Cerone Half Marathon - City of San Miniato is one of the most beloved events in the Tuscan winter running calendar. It traditionally takes place on December 8th, the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, starting at 9:00 AM from the Casa Culturale - Circolo Arci in San Miniato Basso, on Via Giuseppina Pizzigoni. The event is held in the municipality of San Miniato, in the Province of Pisa, in the heart of the hilly landscape made world-famous by its prized white truffle.

The race program

The event offers several challenges designed for competitive athletes, amateur runners, and families:

• Competitive Half Marathon on the classic 21.097 km distance, with a certified course;
• 10 km competitive race, for those who prefer a shorter but intense distance;
• Non-competitive fun run, featuring various routes of different lengths, open to walkers and fit-walking enthusiasts;
• Children's mini-run, with shorter tracks divided by age group, which kicks off the day just before the official start.

The race is accompanied by the White Truffle March, which celebrates the event's deep connection to the territory's signature product.

The route through the Valdarno hills

The track winds from San Miniato Basso along the roads of the municipal territory, through hilly landscapes, countryside, and scenic views that characterize this corner of the Lower Valdarno. The half marathon distance is certified, and the race is included in the regional running calendar, attracting hundreds of participants every year.

In memory of Giuseppe Cerone

The event is dedicated to the memory of Giuseppe Cerone, the historic president of the local running association who passed away in 2012. Since that year, the race has borne his name as a tribute to his commitment to the San Miniato sports community.

Sport, solidarity, and tradition

Organized by the Associazione Sport e Solidarietà San Miniato with the coordination of the Sports Council and numerous local running clubs, the event combines athletic competition with a strong commitment to charity. At the finish line, participants are treated to the famous plate of risotto with San Miniato white truffle, a convivial moment that concludes the morning of sport in the spirit of local gastronomy. All finishers receive a commemorative medal, while special prizes are reserved for the largest teams.
