About Flavors and Earth Market

The Flavors and Earth Market is a springtime event that brings together small-scale producers from the Valdichiana in the newly renovated Church Square of Tegoleto, a village in the municipality of Civitella in Val di Chiana (Arezzo province). Promoted by the local council in partnership with Slow Food Valdichiana, this short-supply-chain market features cured meats, cheeses, wine, craft beer, ancient grains, honey, and saffron, all presented by the producers themselves according to the 'good, clean, and fair' philosophy.

A market that tells the story of the Valdichiana land

The Flavors and Earth Market is a food and wine festival that brings the village of Tegoleto, in the municipality of Civitella in Val di Chiana (Arezzo), to life every spring. Established in 2019, the event has quickly become a staple in the Valdichiana calendar, standing out as one of the most cherished short-supply-chain markets in the Arezzo area.

The setting is the Church Square, which has been recently renovated: for one full Sunday, it transforms into a vibrant open-air space where producer stalls alternate with moments of conviviality, meetings, and family-friendly activities.

The Slow Food philosophy

The market is promoted by the Municipality of Civitella in Val di Chiana in collaboration with Slow Food Valdichiana and the C&T Comunitร  di Tegoleto. This is no ordinary market: as the organizers like to say, it is "a place where we build trust in what we eat." Each producer is present in person to share the story of their products, adhering to the Slow Food principles of good, clean, and fair, while championing local sourcing, seasonality, and short supply chains.

Local excellence

The stalls showcase many of the finest products from the Valdichiana and the Arezzo region:

  • Cured meats and meat products;
  • Cheeses, featuring the Civitella Cheese Market;
  • Wine from local wineries and craft beer;
  • Ancient grains and baked goods;
  • Honey, featuring the Pieve al Toppo Honey Fair;
  • Saffron from the Valdichiana;
  • Preserves and short-supply-chain products from the Conserveria of Castiglion Fiorentino.

Solidarity and community

A feature that makes this market truly special is its strong bond with the Centro Aquilone and organizations that support individuals with disabilities: the Sunday lunch and various initiatives are designed with inclusivity and solidarity in mind. It is a way to combine the promotion of local products with a message of hospitality and participation, in the true spirit of community.

An opportunity to discover Tegoleto and the Valdichiana

Visiting the Flavors and Earth Market is also an invitation to discover an authentic corner of rural Tuscany, far from the typical tourist circuits. Tegoleto and Civitella in Val di Chiana offer landscapes of rolling hills, historic villages, and farming traditions that the market celebrates in every edition.
