A new town run in the heart of the Merano region
The Fitness-Dorflauf Algund takes place in Algund, a charming municipality in the Autonomous Province of Bolzano, in South Tyrol, just a few kilometers from Merano along the ancient Via Claudia Augusta. Conceived by the local Zenit Fit studio, the event introduces an original format to the village streets that goes beyond simple running: various fitness stations are set up along the route, turning the race into a complete experience of movement, motivation, and community.
The concept: run, experience, be active together
The event's motto is clear: laufen, erleben, gemeinsam aktiv sein—run, experience, and be active together. The initiative aims to bring a wide audience closer to sports, from seasoned athletes to families, focusing on fun and a sense of belonging rather than just personal bests.
Categories and route
- Adults' run: approx. 5 km through Algund, starting at 8:30 AM, with fitness stations along the track.
- Children's run: a course designed for the little ones, approx. 2 km, starting around 10:00 AM on a safe, kinderfreundlich (child-friendly) route.
- Corporate category: same route and time as the adults, a format dedicated to company teams to strengthen group spirit.
The party at the Festplatz
After the races, the meeting point is the Algunder Festplatz, the village's festival square, where the awards ceremony and a convivial party with Speis und Trank (food and drinks) take place. It is the moment when the sporting dimension gives way to the community spirit, a hallmark of South Tyrolean village events.
A village between vineyards and mountains
Algund stretches vertically from the fertile Adige Valley to the peaks of the Texel Group Nature Park, amidst vineyards, apple orchards, and scenic trails like the famous Algund Waalweg. With over 260 days of sunshine a year and a mild Mediterranean climate, the village provides an ideal setting for an autumn run in the Burggrafenamt district, just a stone's throw from Merano.

Fitness-Dorflauf Algund 2026: the first edition
On September 13, 2026, Algund hosts the inaugural edition of the Fitness-Dorflauf, organized by Zenit Fit. The program features three formats: the adults' run of approx. 5 km starting at 8:30 AM, the children's run of approx. 2 km starting around 10:00 AM, and a corporate category sharing the same route and time as the adults. Various fitness stations are set up along the track, making the experience more complete and engaging.
After the run: party at the Festplatz
Once the races are over, all participants gather at the Algunder Festplatz for the awards ceremony and a party with food and drinks. Getting there
Algund is located a few kilometers from Merano, in the Province of Bolzano. By car: A22 Brenner motorway, exit Bolzano Sud, then take the MeBo expressway to Merano and continue toward Algund. By train: Merano station, then connect via local bus to Algund.

Tips
Wear comfortable sportswear and running shoes; the route is also suitable for families and beginners thanks to the children's run. Merano and its surroundings offer a wide choice of hotels, guesthouses, and farm stays for accommodation.
