The flavors of the Gargano sea in Peschici
The Fish Festival is one of the most cherished gastronomic events in Peschici, a stunning seaside village perched on the Gargano coast, in the province of Foggia. The festival was created to showcase local catches and the centuries-old maritime vocation of this stretch of Puglia, where fishing remains one of the activities most deeply rooted in the town's identity.
Organized by the young Green Forte association with the patronage of the Municipality of Peschici, the festival is part of the "Benedetta Primavera" event calendar, which brings the Gargano village to life from spring until the beginning of summer. As event councilor Francesco D'Arenzo pointed out, the event represents "a defining moment for our community," an opportunity to rediscover and promote the region's excellence.
The heart of the festival lies in the tastings of fresh fish specialties: mixed fried fish, fish soups, and grilled seafood prepared according to the traditional recipes of Gargano fishermen. The dishes tell the story of an authentic, simple, and generous coastal cuisine, an expression of that Italian gastronomic tradition recognized as UNESCO cultural heritage.
With its white houses overlooking the sea and the tourist port at the foot of the village, Peschici is one of the most beloved destinations in the Gargano National Park. Attending the Fish Festival means experiencing the town in its most authentic dimension, among alleys, maritime traditions, and flavors that smell of the Adriatic. An experience that combines taste, culture, and conviviality in the heart of Puglia.
The 2026 Fish Festival brought Piazza Sant'Antonio in Peschici to life on the evening of Friday, April 24, starting at 7:30 PM. The event, organized by the Green Forte association with the patronage of the Municipality of Peschici, offered tastings of local fish-based specialties, accompanied by music and entertainment.
The event was part of the "Benedetta Primavera" program (3rd edition), the calendar that has been enlivening the Gargano village since spring with cultural, sporting, and gastronomic events. An opportunity to celebrate the maritime tradition of the Gargano coast and the food and wine excellence of the Puglia region.
