The autumn festival of the Fornaci district in Cerignola
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The Chestnut Festival is a staple of the autumn season in Cerignola, located in the Province of Foggia, Puglia. Organized by the San Trifone Martire Parish, the event takes place in the outdoor spaces of the "Giovanni Paolo II" Oratory in the Fornaci district and has long been the event that signals the start of the city's autumn festivities. Reaching its twenty-seventh edition in 2023, the festival has its roots in the nineties and has grown year after year, adding new stalls, flavors, and offerings.
The true star of the evening is the iconic fruit of autumn: the chestnut. Piping hot roasted chestnuts are served "all you can eat," accompanied by traditional fried cucoli and a wide array of food stalls offering pasta dishes and local specialties. It is a chance to rediscover the genuine flavors of Puglian folk cuisine in a festive, community-oriented atmosphere.
Beyond the gastronomy, the Chestnut Festival features live music with local bands and artists who have enlivened the evenings over the years, a space dedicated to entertainment and games for children, and the traditional charity raffle. The proceeds from the initiative are donated to support the activities of the "Giovanni Paolo II" youth center, confirming the event's charitable and community-focused mission.
More than just a local festival, the event is experienced by the people of Cerignola as a moment of sharing and gathering, bringing together families, young people, and the elderly on one of the first chilly evenings of the year. Admission is free, and the informal atmosphere makes the event accessible to everyone, from residents to visitors passing through the town of Cerignola.
The dates for the 2026 edition have not yet been announced by the organizers. As per tradition, the festival is expected to return in the autumn, presumably towards the end of October. We recommend following the social media channels of the San Trifone Martire Parish for the official program and date as soon as they are announced.
