About Fëta di Teteun

In Gignod, every late August, the Fëta di Teteun returns, the festival celebrating teteun, an exclusive Aosta Valley specialty made from brined cow's udders. Founded in 1976 by the Pro Loco (local tourism board), the event brings three days of tastings, local cuisine, music, and dancing to the town's recreational area, featuring the unmissable election of Miss Teteun and, in recent editions, pairing with Madame Escargot's snails. A delicious and convivial gathering amidst the mountains of the Gran San Bernardo Valley.

A Unique Specialty Worldwide

Teteun is a gastronomic specialty exclusive to the Aosta Valley, made from brined cow's udders, processed using a special method that gives them an unmistakable flavour and texture. Served in thin slices, often with local sauces and side dishes, it is a product of peasant tradition that has its own dedicated festival in Gignod, a municipality in the Gran San Bernardo Valley.

A Village Festival Since 1976

The Fëta di Teteun was born in 1976 on the initiative of the Pro Loco of Gignod and has grown to become one of the most anticipated food and wine events of the Aosta Valley summer. It takes place in the town's recreational area and lasts for three days, filled with food stalls, music, and entertainment.

What to Expect

  • Tasting of teteun, the absolute star;
  • The festival restaurant with local specialties and, among the offerings, mixed fried fish;
  • Dancing evenings with live bands;
  • The election of Miss Teteun;
  • An artisan market and activities for families and children.

Teteun and Snails

In recent editions, the festival has been enhanced by pairing with snails (from "Madame Escargot"), expanding the gastronomic offer and confirming Gignod's commitment to promoting the most authentic and curious flavours of Aosta Valley tradition.
