The festival dedicated to teteun, the exclusive Aosta Valley specialty from Gignod
Teteun is an exclusive gastronomic specialty of the Aosta Valley, obtained from the brining of cow udders, processed with a special procedure that gives them an unmistakable flavor and texture. Served in thin slices, often with local sauces and side dishes, it is a product of peasant tradition that in Gignod, a municipality in the Gran San Bernardo Valley, has its own dedicated festival.
The Fëta di Teteun was born in 1976 on the initiative of the Pro Loco of Gignod and has grown to become one of the most anticipated food and wine events of the Aosta Valley summer. It takes place in the town's recreational area and lasts for three days, filling them with food stalls, music, and entertainment.
In more recent editions, the festival has been enhanced by pairing with snails (the "Madame Escargot"), expanding the gastronomic offer and confirming Gignod's commitment to promoting the most authentic and curious flavors of the Aosta Valley tradition.
The 2026 edition of the Fëta di Teteun takes place from August 21 to 23 in the recreational area of Gignod. Three days of celebration centered around teteun, with food stalls, a restaurant, dancing evenings, a market, and entertainment for all, continuing the tradition started by the Pro Loco in 1976. The detailed program will be published by the Pro Loco shortly before the event.
The final program for the 2026 edition will be released by the Pro Loco of Gignod in the weeks prior. Based on the usual structure of the festival, the days will include:
