The festival dedicated to teteun, the exclusive Aosta Valley specialty from Gignod
Teteun is a gastronomic specialty exclusive to the Aosta Valley, made from brined cow's udders, processed using a special method that gives them an unmistakable flavour and texture. Served in thin slices, often with local sauces and side dishes, it is a product of peasant tradition that has its own dedicated festival in Gignod, a municipality in the Gran San Bernardo Valley.
The Fëta di Teteun was born in 1976 on the initiative of the Pro Loco of Gignod and has grown to become one of the most anticipated food and wine events of the Aosta Valley summer. It takes place in the town's recreational area and lasts for three days, filled with food stalls, music, and entertainment.
In recent editions, the festival has been enhanced by pairing with snails (from "Madame Escargot"), expanding the gastronomic offer and confirming Gignod's commitment to promoting the most authentic and curious flavours of Aosta Valley tradition.
The 2026 edition of the Fëta di Teteun will take place from August 21 to 23 in the recreational area of Gignod. Three days of festivities centred around teteun, with food stalls, a restaurant, dancing evenings, a market, and entertainment for everyone, continuing the tradition started by the Pro Loco in 1976. The detailed program will be published by the Pro Loco closer to the event.
The definitive program for the 2026 edition will be released by the Pro Loco of Gignod in the weeks preceding the event. Based on the usual structure of the festival, the days will include:
