The authentic flavours of the Euganean Hills in Lozzo Atestino
The Festa dei Bigoli, Schissotto e Vin S-ciaveto is one of the most cherished gastronomic events in the Euganean Hills. It takes place in Lozzo Atestino, in the province of Padua, and revolves around three products that tell the story of Venetian peasant cuisine: bigoli pasta, schissotto bread, and S-ciaveto wine.
The heart of the festival is in Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II, where you can watch live the preparation of bigoli with the traditional bigolaro, the ancient press that gives the pasta its characteristic shape. Nearby, the dough is prepared and baked in the wood-fired oven for schissotto, a lightly leavened bread similar to focaccia. The bigoli are served by the 'spadellatori' (pan servers) with various sauces: amatriciana, tomato, duck, and wild boar.
Accompanying the dishes is vin S-ciaveto, a typical wine from the Euganean Hills, along with cured meats, cheeses, and local products. The event, organised by the Pro Loco of Lozzo Atestino, is an opportunity to rediscover ancient flavours and traditional crafts in a village festival atmosphere.
Lozzo Atestino lies at the foot of the Euganean Hills, a hilly area of volcanic origin within the Euganean Hills Regional Park. The festival also serves as an invitation to discover this corner of the Paduan territory, with its hamlets, vineyards, and food and wine traditions.
The 28th edition of the Festa dei Bigoli, Schissotto e Vin S-ciaveto takes place over two June weekends in 2026, from the 12th to the 14th and from the 19th to the 21st, in Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II in Lozzo Atestino. The food stand opens every evening from 7:30 PM: the stars are the bigoli pasta made with the bigolaro and served with amatriciana, tomato, duck, and wild boar sauces, the handmade schissotto baked in a wood-fired oven, as well as cured meats, cheeses, and local S-ciaveto wine.
Event organised by the Pro Loco of Lozzo Atestino.
