Autumn in Valnegra

When the colours and flavours of autumn arrive, Valnegra (province of Bergamo), one of the smallest municipalities in Val Brembana, celebrates its Festa delle Castagne (Chestnut Festival), the traditional castagnata with markets. For an entire day, the village centre comes alive with stalls of typical products and handicrafts, while the air fills with the aroma of roasted chestnuts.

Roasted Chestnuts, Flavours, and Music

The programme includes the opening of the markets with typical products and handicrafts, lunch with local specialties — casoncelli, salami, cheeses, and desserts — prepared by volunteers, and in the afternoon, roasted chestnuts accompanied by mulled wine and accordion music. For the little ones, there's face painting. The parish charity raffle and the village's small historical-naturalistic museum also remain open.

In the Upper Val Brembana Circuit

The Valnegra castagnata is part of the circuit of autumn festivals in the Upper Val Brembana, which from October to November showcases seasonal products and the valley's villages. Organised by the Vallegra APS association in collaboration with the municipal administration, it is also an opportunity to discover a small mountain village rich in history, in the heart of the province of Bergamo.
