The autumn festival with roasted chestnuts and local specialties
Fusine is a municipality in the mid-Valtellina region, in the province of Sondrio, located on the Orobic side between Sondrio and the entrance to Val Madre. Its main church is dedicated to Saint Lawrence the Martyr, a parish of ancient foundation (16th century), a sign of the deep-rooted history of this mountain village.
When autumn colours the woods, Fusine renews its castagnata: a village festival dedicated to roasted chestnuts and local specialties, an occasion to gather around the flavours of the season. Amidst the aroma of roasted chestnuts, music, and conviviality, the castagnata is the classic autumn event that ideally closes the beautiful season.
Like many events in the small villages of the province of Sondrio, the Castagnata di Fusine thrives on the work of volunteers and the sense of community that characterises the villages of mid-Valtellina, where seasonal festivals remain a precious moment of encounter.
For autumn 2026, Fusine will renew its castagnata, a village festival dedicated to roasted chestnuts and local specialties. The event takes place, as every year, in the month of October.
The precise date and details of the initiatives will be announced by local entities closer to the event.
The detailed program for the 2026 edition will be announced closer to the event. The festival traditionally offers:
