Two days of taste, tradition, and dancing in the village of Ozein, dedicated to the symbolic dish of Aosta Valley cuisine
The Favò Festival takes place in Ozein, a charming mountain hamlet in the Municipality of Aymavilles, in the Aosta Valley. The star is the Favò, one of the most characteristic dishes of Aosta Valley cuisine: a hearty first course based on pasta, Fontina cheese, black bread toasted in butter, sausage, pancetta, and broad beans. A peasant dish, created to warm and nourish, that tells the rural soul of these valleys.
The heart of the festival is the "Ozeinta Veillà", the traditional Saturday evening gathering in the village: crafts, typical products, old-fashioned games, and ancient trades come alive among the stone houses of Ozein, recreating the atmosphere of evenings past. A journey into the rural memory of the Aosta Valley that gives the event an authentic flavour.
The festival combines the tasting of Favò with dancing evenings with live bands, children's entertainment, a mini hill climb, and moments of insight into local history. In recent years, the Ozein Favò has been enhanced by collaboration with the 'Jambon alla Brace' Association of Saint-Oyen, which offers grilled ham paired with the main dish.
Organized by the Pro Loco of Aymavilles, the cultural association La Tornalla d'Ozein, and the Municipality of Aymavilles, the festival is one of the most cherished gastronomic events of the Aosta Valley summer, in a territory also known for its castle and the vineyards of the Aosta Valley Region.
The Favò Festival 2026 returns to the village of Ozein, in Aymavilles, on July 25 and 26. The event, organized by the Pro Loco of Aymavilles, the association La Tornalla d'Ozein, and the Municipality, offers two days dedicated to Favò – the Aosta Valley first course made with pasta, Fontina, black bread, sausage, pancetta, and broad beans – including the "Ozeinta Veillà" on Saturday, dinners and lunches at the stand, dancing evenings, and entertainment for the little ones. The details of the bands and schedules will be confirmed by the organizers closer to the event.
The 2026 program follows the established two-day format:
The final times and names of the orchestras for the 2026 edition will be announced by the Pro Loco of Aymavilles closer to the event.
Aymavilles can be reached by car from the A5 motorway, exit Aosta, then SS26 and the road to the Cogne valley; the hamlet of Ozein is located above the main town, along the mountain road. By train to Aosta, then local bus.
