Familienfest / Family Festival

A festival for all families in Ora

The Familienfest / Family Festival is one of the most beloved events for families in the town of Ora/Auer, located in the southern part of South Tyrol (province of Bolzano/Bozen, Trentino-Alto Adige). Every year, at the beginning of September, the Schwarzenbach recreational area transforms into a large playground and workshop space designed for children and their companions: an afternoon outdoors to celebrate the return to school together and gather in a cheerful, convivial atmosphere.

An afternoon of games and workshops

The festival is organized by the Familienbeirat Auer (the municipal Family Council) in collaboration with numerous local associations that host various activity stations. The program is packed with activities for children of all ages:

• face painting and dress-up games;
• creative workshops with salt dough and small crafts;
• a woodworking workshop for building and creating;
• skill and throwing games;
• bouncy castles and climbing structures, with a dedicated inflatable for the little ones;
• the traditional Kasperltheater, a puppet theater that delights both children and adults;
• many other surprises prepared by the associations.

Snacks and conviviality

To celebrate the start of school, guests are offered free cakes and drinks in a relaxed atmosphere that invites families to linger, chat, and get to know one another. The event has free admission and serves as a precious opportunity for the community of Ora to come together—a lively town in the so-called "South of South Tyrol" where German and Italian coexist in daily life.

A local event

The Familienfest is part of the rich social life of Ora/Auer, supported by the Bildungsausschuss (the committee for lifelong learning) and local volunteer groups. In case of bad weather, the festival is postponed to the following day. It is a simple, genuine event that combines play, creativity, and a sense of community in one of the sunniest areas of Trentino-Alto Adige.
