An obstacle course between forest and lake

The beyond Challenge has become a staple of the South Tyrolean sporting calendar: an obstacle course race (OCR) held in the evocative Monticolo forest, located on the heights above Appiano sulla Strada del Vino (Eppan an der Weinstraße in German), in the Province of Bolzano, Trentino-Alto Adige. The start and finish lines are set at the Monticolo Lido, on the shores of the Great Monticolo Lake, in a natural setting that combines athletic exertion with breathtaking views.

The event's motto — "dream it. believe it. achieve it." — perfectly captures the spirit of the race: pushing your limits, whether solo or as part of a group, through a mix of uphill running, strength tests, and obstacles scattered along the trails and forest floor.

Two courses for everyone

The beyond Challenge offers two distinct tracks, designed to accommodate both casual fitness enthusiasts and highly trained athletes:

• Fun Challenge: approximately 6.5 km with over 15 obstacles and fitness exercises, featuring an elevation gain of about 180 meters. It is the ideal format for groups of friends, sports clubs, and corporate teams looking to have fun and tackle the challenge together.
• Pro Challenge: approximately 13 km with over 30 obstacles and an elevation gain of about 300 meters. This is the tougher test, reserved for those seeking a true race against the clock and against themselves.

Teams, companies, and group spirit

One of the hallmarks of the beyond Challenge is the strong presence of teams: groups of friends, sports associations, and especially corporate teams from South Tyrol and beyond, who choose the event as a day for sport and team building. Discounted rates are available for groups, and companies can register their teams with dedicated invoicing.

Sport, celebration, and charity at the Lido

After the races, the Monticolo Lido transforms into a lively party space with the After Race Get Together: live DJ music, food, and drinks on the pier by the lake, celebrating the day's achievements. The event also combines sport with a charitable dimension, with a portion of the proceeds donated to support South Tyrolean sports.

Organized by beyond human performance in collaboration with the Appiano Tourist Association, the beyond Challenge has become a signature event for the Municipality of Appiano and the entire South Tyrolean Wine Road region.
