In the heart of the gentle Teramo hills, the village of Faiete—a small hamlet in the municipality of Cellino Attanasio, Abruzzo—dedicates every summer to its hidden treasure: the summer truffle (Tuber Aestivum), which matures in the woodlands and clay-rich soils surrounding the area. The Faiete Truffle Festival is one of the most cherished food and wine events in this corner of the Teramo province.

A tradition born in 1992

The event has been organized since 1992 by the C.A.P.I.T. club of Faiete, a group of local volunteers who set up the stalls and manage the hospitality each year. Over more than three decades, the festival has grown into a landmark for truffle enthusiasts from across Abruzzo and neighboring regions, drawing visitors during the warm August evenings.

The flavors of the truffle

The heart of the festival is the menu, specifically designed to showcase this prized subterranean fungus. At the tables set up in Piazza Marcellusi, you can enjoy specialties such as:

• Truffle bruschetta, simple and fragrant;
• Truffle tagliatelle, the festival's signature dish;
• Pork loin with truffle and truffle cream;
• local staples like prosciutto, pecorino cheese, and sausage sandwiches, as well as French fries.

At the stalls, you can also purchase fresh and jarred truffles, as well as receive tips on how to cook and store them.

Music and conviviality

The festival evenings are accompanied by live music and dancing in the square—ranging from ballroom to Latin-American rhythms—transforming Faiete into a lively village celebration centered on joy and social connection. The intimate atmosphere of the village, the excellent food, and the volunteers' hospitality make this festival an authentic experience, far from the typical tourist circuits.
