The half marathon in the heart of the ceramic city
The Faenza Half Marathon is the winter running event of the Municipality of Faenza, in the Province of Ravenna, in the heart of Emilia-Romagna. Every year, at the end of January, the city of ceramics transforms into a large race course, with start and finish in the scenic Piazza del Popolo, overlooking the Palazzo del Podestร and the Palazzo Comunale. The organization is managed by Overcome Team, with the support of the Municipality of Faenza.
The event offers three distances designed for competitive athletes, amateur runners, and families:
The course winds through the historic center of Faenza and the districts renovated after the flood that severely hit Romagna in 2023. From the city center, the route passes through Corso Saffi, Ponte delle Grazie, Corso Europa, Via Forlivese, and numerous city streets, in a loop that combines the charm of the center with more modern avenues. Running the Faenza Half Marathon also means symbolically crossing a city that has managed to rise again, returning a major sporting event to the community that had been missing for years.
Already in its second edition, the event registered over 1,400 participants, with the half marathon quickly selling out. The race attracts athletes from all over Emilia-Romagna and neighboring regions, confirming itself as one of the most popular events in the Romagna running calendar at the start of the year.
Beyond the competitive aspect, the Faenza Half Marathon is a day of celebration for the entire Manfreda city: the Family Run involves families and children, while along the route and in Piazza del Popolo, the atmosphere is that of a major popular event. An opportunity to discover Faenza, world-renowned for its ceramic tradition, by experiencing it at the rhythm of running.
The second edition of the Faenza Half Marathon was held on Sunday, January 25, 2026, with the start given in Piazza del Popolo. The day saw over 1,400 participants and the debut of the competitive 10 km certified by FIDAL, alongside the 21.097 km half marathon and the 6.8 km Family Run.
The men's half marathon was won by Stefano Massimi (ASD Atletica Vomano) in 1h07'04", ahead of Enrico Bartolotti (LifeRunner) and Michele Pastorini (GP Parco Alpi Apuane). In the women's race, the victory went to Faenza's own Valentina Mattesini (Atletica 85 Faenza) in 1h19'58", preceding Giulia Sadocchi and Federica Moroni.
Faenza is easily reachable by train (station on the BolognaโRimini line) and by car via the A14 motorway, Faenza exit. The start is in Piazza del Popolo, in the historic center.
Bibs and race packs can be collected at the Overcome Sporting Club (Ex Salesiani Complex): on Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning before the start.
Bag drop in Piazza del Popolo, changing rooms and showers at the Ivo Badiali gym (about 500 meters from the start), photo service, and free parking on Sundays. For registrations and information: www.faenzahalfmarathon.com.
