The great historic motorsport gathering at the Imola Circuit
The Historic Minardi Day is one of the most anticipated events for historic motorsport enthusiasts in Italy. It takes place at the Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari in Imola, in the Metropolitan City of Bologna, Emilia-Romagna: a legendary circuit that has written fundamental pages in Formula 1 history and which, for an entire weekend, vibrates again to the sound of past single-seaters.
The event was born in 2016 thanks to the Minardi family and the intuition of Gian Carlo Minardi, historic patron of the Faenza-based team, with the aim of bringing Formula 1 and the great motor racing tradition back to Imola. What started as a gathering for a few enthusiasts has grown edition after edition, becoming a benchmark in the international historic motorsport calendar, capable of uniting old and new fans in a joyful and familiar atmosphere.
The heart of the Historic Minardi Day is the cars: Formula 1, Formula 2, and Formula 3 single-seaters, prototypes, historic Gran Turismo cars, supercars, and hypercars from the most prestigious brands alternate on the track for demonstrations and exhibitions. The unique feature of the event is the close access to the pits and paddocks: the public can observe the cars up close, watch the mechanics at work, and hear the roar of the engines, experiencing firsthand an event that would otherwise be reserved for insiders.
In addition to track activities, the program usually includes historic car gatherings in the Romagna region, book presentations, awards ceremonies, and meetings with drivers and personalities from the racing world. The event attracts collectors, teams, and thousands of visitors: the 2025 edition saw over 20,000 spectators with more than 700 cars featured.
Participating in the Historic Minardi Day also means discovering Imola and Romagna: the historic center with the Rocca Sforzesca, the local cuisine, and the typical Emilia-Romagna hospitality provide the backdrop for an event that is now a tradition for the Municipality of Imola and the entire Emilia-Romagna region.
In 2026, the Historic Minardi Day celebrates its tenth edition, scheduled for Saturday, September 19, and Sunday, September 20, at the Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari in Imola. The Minardi family and the organizing company Gear have confirmed the dates and are already working to create a celebratory edition worthy of the anniversary.
As tradition dictates, the weekend will bring together historic Formula 1 cars, single-seaters, prototypes, Gran Turismo cars, and supercars, with the usual close access to the pits and paddocks. Tickets will be available for pre-sale online on TicketOne. The detailed program, including guests and track activities, will be communicated by the organizers closer to the event.
By car: take the Imola exit on the A14 Bologna-Ancona motorway, then follow signs for the circuit. By train: Imola station on the Bologna-Rimini line, a short distance from the circuit.
Tickets are available for pre-sale online on TicketOne. The admission ticket grants access to the paddock, grandstands, and the central seating area. Different types are usually available (daily, weekend pass, VIP with pit-lane access).
It is advisable to purchase tickets in advance, arrive early to enjoy the activities in the pits, and plan for an overnight stay in Imola or the surrounding area to experience the entire weekend.
