The LGBTQIA+ Pride of the Egadi archipelago, in Favignana
Egadi Pride is the LGBTQIA+ event of the Egadi archipelago, in the province of Trapani, Western Sicily. Every year in July, the island of Favignana is painted in rainbow colors and hosts a parade that winds through the historic center, from Largo Marina along the main streets to the town squares. It is one of the smallest yet most evocative Pride events in Italy: the parade takes place on an island in a unique landscape, bringing themes of rights and inclusion to a territory where these battles hold strong symbolic value.
The event was founded in 2022 and has quickly established itself as a fixed annual appointment on the Egadi islands' calendar. It is organized by the Egadi Pride Committee with the patronage of the Municipality of Favignana and the support of Arcigay Trapani. The event affirms the rights of freedom for all, without barriers of gender, ethnicity, culture, or religion, in line with the island's welcoming spirit. In 2026, Arcigay Trapani chose not to organize the Trapani Pride, focusing its support instead on the Egadi Pride in Favignana.
Egadi Pride is not limited to the Saturday parade: in the days leading up to it, Favignana hosts a rich, widespread program of creative writing workshops, drag workshops, book presentations, discussions on affectivity and sexuality, yoga sessions, and stand-up comedy shows. The initiatives take place in gardens, inns, and local venues, involving associations and local entities. The final parade is accompanied by music, performances, and a big evening party.
Egadi Pride is held in Favignana, a municipality in the Egadi archipelago in the Province of Trapani (Sicily). The parade winds through the island's historic center, and admission is always free and open to everyone. To reach Favignana, you must take a hydrofoil or ferry from the port of Trapani.
The 2026 edition of Egadi Pride, the fifth, takes place on Saturday, July 11, 2026, in Favignana. The chosen theme is "Corpi unici, una galassia di immaginari" (Unique bodies, a galaxy of imaginaries), a claim that serves as a clear and radical manifesto against any form of standardization of bodies and desires, inviting a rethinking of the relationship between identity, freedom, and public space.
The final parade on July 11 is preceded in the days prior by a rich calendar of initiatives on the island: creative writing workshops, drag workshops, book presentations, and discussion sessions, as well as collaborations with other local associations. In 2026, Arcigay Trapani chose to support Egadi Pride, forgoing the Trapani Pride.
