About Cuneo Tango Festival

For four days, Savigliano, in the heart of the Cuneo province, becomes the Piedmontese capital of Argentine tango. The Cuneo Tango Festival brings together world-renowned masters and dancers, evening milongas, intensive workshops, live orchestras, and performances that weave Argentine culture with local traditions. A well-established event that celebrates the encounter between two worlds through the embrace of tango.

Savigliano, the capital of Argentine tango

Every spring, between late May and early June, Savigliano (in the province of Cuneo, Piedmont) transforms into the reference point for Argentine tango in Northwest Italy. The Cuneo Tango Festival brings internationally acclaimed masters and dancers, live orchestras, national TDjs, and a community of enthusiasts from all over Italy and abroad to the town for four days of dance and culture.

Between Piedmont and Argentina

The common thread of the festival is the meeting of Argentine culture and Piedmontese identity: tango, born from the emigration that linked these very lands to Argentina in the late 19th century, becomes an opportunity to rediscover a historical bond between the two sides of the Atlantic. The festival is organized by the Tango de Buenos Aires ASD and Somos Tango ASD associations, in collaboration with the Municipality of Savigliano and under the patronage of the Argentine Embassy in Rome, the Casa Argentina, the Argentine Consulate in Milan, and the Piedmont Regional Council.

What to expect

  • Evening milongas: from the milonga de bienvenida to the milonga despedida, every night has its own dance floor.
  • Intensive workshops in tango and vals with world-class masters.
  • Live orchestras and musical selections curated by TDjs.
  • Shows and performances by guest masters.
  • DegusTango: tastings of Piedmontese wines accompanied by poetry and dance.

Festival venues

The beating heart of the milongas is the Ala Polifunzionale L. Morello, while the grand finale takes place outdoors in Piazza C. Turletti, in front of the historic Teatro Milanollo. Guided walks to discover the city's tango heritage visit some of Savigliano's most beautiful palaces. Year after year, the festival confirms Piedmont's role as a land that embraces great musical and dance traditions.
