Piedmont meets Argentina in Savigliano
Every spring, between late May and early June, Savigliano (in the province of Cuneo, Piedmont) transforms into the reference point for Argentine tango in Northwest Italy. The Cuneo Tango Festival brings internationally acclaimed masters and dancers, live orchestras, national TDjs, and a community of enthusiasts from all over Italy and abroad to the town for four days of dance and culture.
The common thread of the festival is the meeting of Argentine culture and Piedmontese identity: tango, born from the emigration that linked these very lands to Argentina in the late 19th century, becomes an opportunity to rediscover a historical bond between the two sides of the Atlantic. The festival is organized by the Tango de Buenos Aires ASD and Somos Tango ASD associations, in collaboration with the Municipality of Savigliano and under the patronage of the Argentine Embassy in Rome, the Casa Argentina, the Argentine Consulate in Milan, and the Piedmont Regional Council.
The beating heart of the milongas is the Ala Polifunzionale L. Morello, while the grand finale takes place outdoors in Piazza C. Turletti, in front of the historic Teatro Milanollo. Guided walks to discover the city's tango heritage visit some of Savigliano's most beautiful palaces. Year after year, the festival confirms Piedmont's role as a land that embraces great musical and dance traditions.
Savigliano is accessible by train (station on the Turin-Cuneo and Turin-Savona lines) and by car via the A6 Turin-Savona motorway, Marene exit. The town is approximately 50 km from Turin and 30 km from Cuneo.
Milongas and workshops are held at the Ala Polifunzionale L. Morello; the outdoor finale takes place in Piazza C. Turletti, in front of the Teatro Milanollo (moved to the Centro Culturale Saviglianese in case of rain).
Participation in milongas and workshops is generally reserved for ACSI FAITANGO members; registration takes place online or via the QR code found on the flyers. For information: [email protected].
