Four evenings of classical and operatic music at the "C. Nobile" Amphitheatre in Vieste
The Cristalda and Pizzomunno International Classical Music Festival is one of the most anticipated musical events of the summer in Vieste, the pearl of the Gargano promontory in the province of Foggia (Puglia). The event takes its name from Vieste's most famous legend: the love story between the young Cristalda and the fisherman Pizzomunno, linked to the majestic white rock monolith that stands on the town beach and has become the symbol of Vieste.
Promoted by the Municipality of Vieste under the artistic direction of maestro Antonello D'Onofrio and organized by Metodo d'Accordo in collaboration with the Nuova Diapason Cultural Musical Association, the festival offers a refined program each year that weaves together classical repertoire, piano recitals, violin duels, opera arias, and forays into spoken-word theatre. The evenings take place primarily at the "C. Nobile" Municipal Amphitheatre, with some concerts hosted at the San Giovanni Auditorium in the heart of the historic center.
Over the years, the festival has brought leading performers from the Italian and international concert scene to Vieste, including chamber musicians from the Teatro alla Scala and celebrated opera voices. The program alternates between established names and young talents, designed to introduce the general summer audience to high-brow music without sacrificing artistic rigor.
Consistent with its vocation as a festival spread across the area, the event maintains free admission until capacity is reached, turning July evenings into an opportunity for residents and tourists to experience Vieste through music. The evocative setting of the amphitheatre, overlooking the sea and the old town, helps make every concert an immersive experience that combines cultural heritage, landscape, and a great repertoire.
The seventh edition of the festival brings Vieste to life from July 17 to 20, 2026, with four evenings at the "C. Nobile" Municipal Amphitheatre. A refined journey between Eastern sensibilities and Western classical tradition, with a finale dedicated to Giacomo Puccini.
Concerts are held primarily at the "C. Nobile" Municipal Amphitheatre in Vieste (FG), with some evenings at the San Giovanni Auditorium in the historic center.
Admission is free until capacity is reached. We recommend arriving early to secure a seat.
Vieste can be reached by car via the Gargano state roads; the reference railway stations are Foggia and San Severo, which are connected to Vieste by bus lines. In summer, maritime connections are active with the Tremiti Islands and other coastal towns.
