Running in the heart of the Gargano

The Corrimonte – Vito Prezioso Memorial is the most anticipated summer road race in Monte Sant'Angelo, a town in the province of Foggia famous for the Sanctuary of San Michele Arcangelo and the historic Rione Junno district, both UNESCO World Heritage sites. Perched at nearly 800 meters above sea level, overlooking the Gargano promontory and the Gulf of Manfredonia, the city offers a unique natural setting in Puglia for a road race that tests both legs and lungs.

A race for everyone

The course, covering approximately 9.9 kilometers, winds through the town streets with the start and finish line in the Piazza Beneficenza area, next to the Villa Comunale. The event features a competitive race reserved for FIDAL-registered athletes in the Allievi, Junior, Promesse, Senior, and Master categories (men and women), alongside a non-competitive run open to all enthusiasts and youth races for younger age groups. It is an annual appointment that draws hundreds of runners from across the Capitanata region and beyond.

In memory of Vito Prezioso

The race is dedicated to the memory of Vito Prezioso, a young running enthusiast who passed away prematurely. The memorial keeps his memory alive by transforming every edition into a moment of sport and community. Organized by the Gruppo Podistico Montanari Doc, with the patronage of the Municipality of Monte Sant'Angelo, the Corrimonte was established in 2011 and celebrates its fourteenth edition in 2026, firmly rooted in the city's annual sports calendar.

Running in Monte Sant'Angelo in the height of summer means enjoying cooler temperatures compared to the coast and a festive atmosphere that involves the whole town. The evening start allows runners to tackle the course's undulations under the light of the Gargano sunset. The race is surrounded by the typical spirit of Gargano festivals, with supporters lining the streets, post-race refreshments, and awards ceremonies in the square. It is an authentic way to discover one of Puglia's most fascinating villages, combining sport with local exploration.
