About Ischitella Run

Ischitella Run is the 10-kilometre road race that brings the streets of Ischitella to life every year on the Gargano promontory in the province of Foggia. Organized by the ASD Runners Gymnasium Ischitella with the support of FIDAL Foggia and the local municipality, the event combines a competitive race, valid as a Provincial Championship, with a non-competitive run open to everyone, including youth categories and a festive atmosphere capped off by a traditional pasta party.

Ischitella Run: running in the heart of the Gargano

The Ischitella Run is the classic 10-kilometre road race held in Ischitella, a village in the Gargano area of the province of Foggia, Puglia. Originally conceived as a celebration of sport and a healthy lifestyle, it has grown over the years to become one of the most anticipated events on the local running calendar, attracting hundreds of athletes from across the province and neighbouring regions.

A 10 km route between village and countryside

The race kicks off from Piazza Marchese De Vera d'Aragona, in the historic centre of Ischitella, and winds through the village streets and the surrounding territory. The 10-kilometre course alternates between urban stretches and more open segments towards the Gargano countryside. In previous editions, the route has passed through Via Umberto I and the Provincial Road 51, with a turnaround point halfway through before returning to the centre for the finish line and awards ceremony.

Competitive and non-competitive race

The Ischitella Run offers two formats: the competitive race, reserved for FIDAL-registered athletes and valid in some editions as the Provincial Absolute Championship, and the non-competitive run, open to independent athletes and anyone wishing to participate without an official ranking. This dual nature allows the event to combine the competitive spirit of seasoned runners with the popular participation of enthusiasts and families.

Sport for everyone: youth and solidarity

Alongside the main event, the day also features youth categories, with short courses dedicated to children and teenagers, as well as charity initiatives such as the Trophy dedicated to blood donors. The event traditionally concludes with a pasta party and refreshments for all participants, in a convivial atmosphere that reflects the welcoming spirit of the Ischitella community.

Ischitella, the balcony of the Gargano

Running the Ischitella Run is also an opportunity to discover one of the most picturesque villages in the Gargano National Park: overlooking Lake Varano and just a few kilometres from the coast, Ischitella offers stunning views of the promontory, ancient olive groves, and a charming historic centre. The race, organized by the ASD Runners Gymnasium Ischitella with the support of the municipality, is much more than a sporting competition: it is a festival that celebrates the territory and its people.

Ischitella Run — edition 2026

The dates for the 2026 edition of the Ischitella Run have not yet been announced. The 10 km road race, organized by the ASD Runners Gymnasium Ischitella, usually returns in the autumn to the streets of the Gargano village. The official programme and date will be communicated by the organizers in the months leading up to the event.

The ASD Runners Gymnasium Ischitella has not yet made the date of the next Ischitella Run official. In recent years, the 10-kilometre race has taken place in the autumn, between September and November, starting from Piazza Marchese De Vera d'Aragona in the centre of Ischitella. As soon as the organizers publish the 2026 calendar, this page will be updated with the official date, route, categories, and registration details.
