The 10 km road race in the Gargano
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The Ischitella Run is the classic 10-kilometre road race held in Ischitella, a village in the Gargano area of the province of Foggia, Puglia. Originally conceived as a celebration of sport and a healthy lifestyle, it has grown over the years to become one of the most anticipated events on the local running calendar, attracting hundreds of athletes from across the province and neighbouring regions.
The race kicks off from Piazza Marchese De Vera d'Aragona, in the historic centre of Ischitella, and winds through the village streets and the surrounding territory. The 10-kilometre course alternates between urban stretches and more open segments towards the Gargano countryside. In previous editions, the route has passed through Via Umberto I and the Provincial Road 51, with a turnaround point halfway through before returning to the centre for the finish line and awards ceremony.
The Ischitella Run offers two formats: the competitive race, reserved for FIDAL-registered athletes and valid in some editions as the Provincial Absolute Championship, and the non-competitive run, open to independent athletes and anyone wishing to participate without an official ranking. This dual nature allows the event to combine the competitive spirit of seasoned runners with the popular participation of enthusiasts and families.
Alongside the main event, the day also features youth categories, with short courses dedicated to children and teenagers, as well as charity initiatives such as the Trophy dedicated to blood donors. The event traditionally concludes with a pasta party and refreshments for all participants, in a convivial atmosphere that reflects the welcoming spirit of the Ischitella community.
Running the Ischitella Run is also an opportunity to discover one of the most picturesque villages in the Gargano National Park: overlooking Lake Varano and just a few kilometres from the coast, Ischitella offers stunning views of the promontory, ancient olive groves, and a charming historic centre. The race, organized by the ASD Runners Gymnasium Ischitella with the support of the municipality, is much more than a sporting competition: it is a festival that celebrates the territory and its people.
The ASD Runners Gymnasium Ischitella has not yet made the date of the next Ischitella Run official. In recent years, the 10-kilometre race has taken place in the autumn, between September and November, starting from Piazza Marchese De Vera d'Aragona in the centre of Ischitella. As soon as the organizers publish the 2026 calendar, this page will be updated with the official date, route, categories, and registration details.
Ischitella can be reached by car via the SS693 and the provincial roads of the Gargano; the nearest railway stations are those of the Ferrovie del Gargano. The reference airports are Bari and Foggia (Gino Lisa).
Meeting point, start, and finish are in Piazza Marchese De Vera d'Aragona, in the centre of Ischitella.
The competitive race requires FIDAL registration; the non-competitive run is open to independent athletes. Procedures and registration fees are published by the ASD Runners Gymnasium Ischitella in the weeks leading up to the event.
