The highest contemporary circus festival in Italy, set amidst the squares and peaks of the Val di Fassa
The Circen Dolomites Festival is one of the most original contemporary circus events in the Alps. Born from the experience of the Circensema group and the INOUT Social Cooperative of the Val di Fassa, it brings jugglers, acrobats, tightrope walkers, and street performers to town squares and mountain peaks alike. Defined as the highest circus festival in Italy, the event takes place across various municipalities in the valley, including Moena, in the province of Trento, in the Trentino-Alto Adige region.
In Moena, the events are concentrated in the historic town squares—specifically Piaz de Ramon and Piaz de Sotegrava—where, on summer evenings, the public can enjoy free contemporary circus acts, juggling, acrobatics, and street theater. In case of bad weather, the performances are moved to the nearby Navalge Theater, ensuring the program continues regardless of the conditions.
The Circen Dolomites Festival is not tied to a single location: its identity is that of an itinerant and widespread festival. Over several days, it visits multiple municipalities in the Val di Fassa and offers performances at high altitudes, accessible via ski lifts and hiking trails, amidst alpine pastures, mountain huts, and Dolomite panoramas. Alongside the evening shows, there are moments dedicated to families and children, workshops, and activities focused on environmental education, in harmony with the setting of the UNESCO World Heritage Dolomites.
The program brings together companies and artists from various countries, showcasing different languages of contemporary circus: from juggling to clowning, and object manipulation to acrobatics. Among the headliners announced for the Moena events are names such as Simone Romanò with the show Hop-Hop and Cho Kairin with MONSTERSTROKE. Admission to the shows is free.
Attending a show at the Circen Dolomites Festival in Moena means experiencing contemporary circus in a unique setting, with the peaks of the Val di Fassa as a backdrop. It is an opportunity to combine a mountain vacation with a distinct cultural experience, suitable for the whole family and capable of transforming the town squares into open-air stages.
In 2026, the Circen Dolomites Festival returns to the Val di Fassa from July 25 to August 6, with performances spread across several municipalities in the valley. In Moena, in the province of Trento, the festival offers free evening events in the town squares, including Piaz de Ramon and Piaz de Sotegrava.
Among the shows announced for Moena are Hop-Hop by Simone Romanò and MONSTERSTROKE by Cho Kairin, along with other contemporary circus, juggling, and acrobatics acts. In case of bad weather, the performances will be held at the Navalge Theater in Moena at the same time. Admission is free.
The festival continues in other municipalities of the Val di Fassa and at high altitudes, with mountain shows, workshops, and family activities. In case of bad weather, the Moena performances will move to the Navalge Theater.
Moena is located in the Val di Fassa, in the province of Trento. By car, it can be reached via the A22 Brennero motorway (Egna-Ora or Bolzano exit), heading up through the Val di Fiemme and Val di Fassa. The nearest train station is Ora/Auer, which is connected to Moena by local bus services.
The performances in the squares of Moena are free of charge. In case of bad weather, the events will be moved to the Navalge Theater in Moena at the same time.
Bring clothing suitable for mountain evenings, as temperatures can be cool even in summer. For the updated program and high-altitude performances, please check the official website and the festival's social media channels.
