The Sommerfest der Musikkapelle Welschnofen is the traditional summer festival of the brass band (Musikkapelle) of Nova Levante/Welschnofen, a town in the Val d'Ega at the foot of the Catinaccio, in the province of Bolzano, Trentino-Alto Adige. Every summer, usually towards the end of July, the community gathers for two days of outdoor live music, good food, and conviviality in one of the most picturesque corners of the South Tyrolean Dolomites.
Live music for everyone
The heart of the event is naturally the Musikkapelle Welschnofen, one of the oldest associations in the town: the band dates back to the mid-19th century and still boasts over fifty musicians today, led by the bandmaster (Kapellmeister). During the Sommerfest, the band offers a varied and engaging program, ranging from traditional Blasmusik—marches, polkas, and waltzes from the Tyrolean repertoire—to more modern hits designed for an audience of all ages. The festival is also an opportunity to host guest bands and experience the festive atmosphere typical of South Tyrolean village festivals.
Tyrolean gastronomy
Alongside the music, plenty of space is dedicated to gastronomy. The food stand offers grilled specialties, hearty local dishes, homemade desserts, and cold drinks, in perfect South Tyrolean Fest style. It is the ideal occasion to savor the flavors of the rural tradition of the Val d'Ega in a relaxed and family-friendly atmosphere.

The Sommerfest is much more than a concert: it is a moment of identity and gathering for the entire community of Welschnofen, which supports its brass band and renews its bond with the town. Free entry and the welcoming atmosphere make it a pleasant stop for tourists vacationing in the Dolomites, between Lake Carezza and the Latemar.

The festival is held at the Haus der Dorfgemeinschaft (Community House), at Romstraße 63 in Nova Levante/Welschnofen. The town center is easily accessible and has parking near the town hall.

Sommerfest 2026
The 2026 edition opens on Saturday, July 25 starting at 6:00 PM and continues on Sunday, July 26 from 11:00 AM until evening, at the Haus der Dorfgemeinschaft on Romstraße 63 in Nova Levante/Welschnofen.
The Musikkapelle Welschnofen will enliven the two days with a varied program of traditional Blasmusik and modern tracks, suitable for all ages. The food stand will offer grilled dishes, desserts, and cold drinks. Entry is free and no reservation is required.

How to get there
Nova Levante/Welschnofen is located in the Val d'Ega, in the province of Bolzano. By car, it can be reached from the Bolzano Nord motorway exit (A22) by following the signs for Val d'Ega and Lake Carezza. The Haus der Dorfgemeinschaft is at Romstraße 63, in the town center, with parking near the town hall.

The town is served by South Tyrolean bus lines (lines 180, 181, 182, 184, and 187 depending on your starting point).
